Re: Hawks 17" CrossLace GTA Wheels
Hi all. I ordered my new 17" wheels from Hawks about 4 or so months ago. I just received them mid January. Keep in mind, this is only my experience and it was quite the trial. First set I received had dimples in the clear coat on 2 rims. Sent all 4 back. Next set had similar issues and 2 of the rims had tooling marks. One had a noticeable scratch that ran around the entire rim in the silver and the other had a band of about 5 scratches that ran the same. Sent those back too. Owner Bruce at Hawks finally got involved and personally inspected a bunch and sent me 4 because the gold was a shade off on the wheels before as well. So the last 4 that showed up had good clear coat, one has primer showing through the gold in the mesh close to the hub and after I had my tires mounted, I put the back ones on and started it up on the jack. I've never seen wheels with more than 1/8" runout until now. I would think twice before spending your hard earned money on these. Especially if you are doing a nicer restoration like myself. For a daily driver they may be fine, but when I shell out this kind of money for a wheel, they better be quality made. They have a 'Topline' stamp on the rim..
Once more, this is just my experience and maybe you all had better outcomes. Personally, it may make more sense to spend less and hit jegs or summit. Good luck to you all and if anyone would like a video of the car running on the jack to show the wobble in the rims, PM me and I can maybe send along. It's a 26Mb video and it may send or may not. I can always airdrop it to you.
Thanks for reading.

Re: Hawks 17" CrossLace GTA Wheels
Scooter, I agree to an extent. I painted dozens of cars in my life and know all about the end results of unclean surfaces, dust, water in paint or clear,etc.. The 'dimples' have a small piece of metal in the middle of the dimple. It's not simply void of clear in that area. Other wheels had tooling marks with scratches, etc. Just poor QA in my opinion. You pay a premium for a product you should expect it to be right or the best it can be. Just was posting my own experiences with these newer, aftermarket GTA wheels.

I fully agree with the tooling marks, runout, the scratches and the non color matching wheels. I bought those wheels years ago and one of them was a completely different color than the other two. The solvent pop happens though
These aren't "premium products", they are mass produced, cast wheels made in China.

Re: Hawks 17" CrossLace GTA Wheels
I bought both sets of 17" iroc wheels from Hawks (88-90) and (85-87).
All 8 wheels are mint.
Just sharing my experience.
I must agree with Scooter that these are def not premium products @$237 a wheel. They are what they are.
On the plus side, at least Hawks took care of you. I've heard of horror stories of getting the round around forever from other companies....

Re: Hawks 17" CrossLace GTA Wheels
I bought mine back when they were still $1100-1200 per set, except for the missing spacers which they promptly shipped after I notified them, the wheels were perfect. I wonder if the supplier changed hence the drop in price. It’s a shame the CTW’s are out of production now too. We need good wheel options for our cars in 17-18”.

Re: Hawks 17" CrossLace GTA Wheels
I didn't realize i hadn't posted any pictures 😂
Here is a few photos and a link to a video I did.
I still would like to lower it and get the interior done.
still need a few steering components too.

Re: Hawks 17" CrossLace GTA Wheels
I have a question. I just installed all 4 Hawks on my 91 trans am. The Spacers in the front prevent the center caps from staying on.
Did anyone have this issue and how did you resolve it? You can see backs are good.

Re: Hawks 17" CrossLace GTA Wheels
Just installed the 17" black mesh GTA wheels on my '92 Camaro Z28 today. I really like the look and ride so far. Suspension is stock and hasn't been lowered. Doesn't really ride any worse that with the 16" stock wheel and tire combo.
