I know this will ruffle a few Feathers.but if your looking for a super cheap way to have 16 inch wheels and tires BMW e46 sedan rims can be Sourced extremely cheap. I got to set of 4 for $100. You will need a 2 inch wheel spacer This opens the door for more easy and affordable tire optons.Pictures below show ZERO RUB tire is 205/55r16
the reason for the spacer is for the 40mm off set the bmw wheel has.if you dont use the 2 inch spacer the rim will contact the tie rod

LOL, I keep my 3rd Gen parts on one side of the garage and my BMW parts on the other.

 

BMW rims only fit BMW wheels...

 

Is the bolt pattern the same or is the spacer converting from one pattern to another? I know the two patterns are really close but not perfect, at least so I hear.

 

The e46 rim will fit i used a spacer due to the 40mm off set. Without the spacer it will hit the tie rod

That's what we call "fits" these days? Wrong offset, wrong bolt pattern and wrong hub bore....

Now that's tha.of the way, guys have been runnign BMW wheels for a long time. I had a set on my old 92, just a tad larger at 18x10.5. There is an old thread in fabrication IIRC about correcting the bolt pattern.

 

Difference in the 2 patterns is a total of about .025". That doesn't sound like a lot BUT it WILL put stress on the wheel studs during cornering, especially hard cornering. And you can only stress metal back and forth so many times before it breaks.I would make sure at minumum you are using hub centrics to make sure the wheel is centered.
