I've never seen an aftermarket brace. My car doesn't even have one any more but then I don't go around corners except at the end of the 1/4 mile

I'd suggest hitting the junk yard.

Mean, what part are you calling the panhard rod brace? I take it that it is the part that bolts to the car body and then connects to the panhard rod itself. I have one of those laying around if you want it, just pay for the shipping and it's yours.

Actually a company called Ground control makes a awsome pnahard rod and that comes with a cutom braket to lower the center of gravity on the rear to allow for less side to side movement. It runs about $140 for the whole package. JMO

The sticker is Comp Engineering but, I didn't see that on thier site (prob from lack of looking too hard) but, to make one like that would be pretty simple.

Cool!

I wish the underside of my car looked that clean but it wouldn't be any faster.

That car really need LCA relocation brackets. You can see the LCA's angled downwards towards the front.

I was about to try and e-mail them to see if they understand english but thought twice- It would probably cost way too much to ship one here from japan.

Did anyone check out the car they are solo racing over there? click around on the web site and you'll see- It look like a Vintage road race event in the states. Can't believe the musclecars they have shipped over there.

What LG makes is a harness bar for seatbelt (i.e.-5pt harness) mounting and only fits 4th gens.

Our panhard BRACE "boxes" the body where the gas tank sits. The panhard ROD connects to the body via a bracket on the pass. side of car. Where that bracket is mounted, the body makes a large upsidedown U-shape over the gas tank to provide clearence for the tank. This BRACE boxes the bottoms of the upsidedown U-shape and helps take out flex on the body from the pressure of the panhard ROD.
{Please note that panhard rod and panhard brace are two different things}
I don't personally feel that handling is compromised with the stock BRACE. However, I think stress is put on the body under heavy g's and adds to the stress cracks that everyone develops in the upper rear corners of the door windows. A stiffer BRACE would help body stress majorly, but handling minorly.( Now I did not state it would not help handling- What I said was it would help very little to have a modified BRACE in comparison to a stock BRACE.) Subframe connectors help the best for handling and body twisting.

I feel the best result for handling(talking only of the panhard area) would be to somehow tie-in a cage system from the floorboards near the front LCA mounts through the rear seat area in an X-fashion and connect to the panhard Brace mount areas. This would completely help box the rear suspension (alot like the STB boxes the front suspension) but would take alot of fab work, way too much for any street car.

Example: Tube mounted from left LCA front mount area to right panhard brace area/ and right LCA to left brace areas/ and weld together where they cross at the X. The easiest way to mount the fronts points would be to a roll cage probably about a foot off the floorboard above the LCA front mounts. I can't do this because I need my rear seats for my kid and her 200lbs of lugage she always seems to need to take with her everywhere we go.

I definitely saw a piece similar to the one in Tom Keliher's post and it was made in the U.S. If it wasn't LG Motorsports then it could have been Granatelli or possibly Kenny Brown but it is out there. I do remember it being powder coated red if that makes a difference.

I can read that it costs 26,000 yen!

If the conversion is anything like Italian Lira, then my guess is that it costs about $37. LOL.

Granatelli finally has a picture of their "panhard rod brace" on the website. They claim it is boxed and is three times the strength of the stock unit, however the picture just shows the top side ( can't see the "boxed section" to see how well they improved it) and it just looks like a stock unit painted red.

Your best bet is to call around and get an idea of that a welding shop would charge.

Or you can take your stock one (or get one from a junk yard), take it to a welding shop and tell them what you want done. I can't imagine they'll charge more than $100.

$225 just to modify the stock one is outrageous. I know it's powder coated and all that, but if you're not looking to enter the car in shows, a $5 rattle can will do pretty good.
