The 6" rod will make more peak and like a higher RPM and the shorter rods will make a tad bit more torque and will peak tq and hp wise a little lower.

Okay, where'd you get that air cleaner decal? I've been looking for one of those.

Hey, Five7,

If you're still running the dual snorkel and I believe you are, you'll love this decal, which was made to fit that application (I bought, hoping to use the dual snorkel on my new motor, but since it won't fit the carb, I modified the decal). Check out the following link--the part number is DC1047, $10.50 + shipping:

Here's the direct link:

http://osborn-reproduction.com/catal..._Position=PAR:

Home page:

http://osborn-reproduction.com/

Though the name of the company includes "reproduction," the decal had GM stamped on the backing paper. At any rate, original or repo, the decal is first-rate.

That said, a local print shop can surprise you. Note what I had made for the rockers and rear bumper. Looks stock, IMO (If you'd like the template that I used, let me know):

Took awhile to navigate their site, but got there.

Thanks. I've been searching eBay for months for that thing.

Wow I wonder if they can make the bumper decal for the 83-84 5.0 liter bumper decal for the Z/28s but instead of 5.0 put a 5.7 on it. Im all about factory looking stuff!

I e-mailed the company with that very question. They can't. As I demonstrated above, a good print shop can make what you want. If you'd like a copy of what I used, PM me.

5.7 Liter HO Air Box Decal

I'm posting this separately on the carb board (with the direct link) since I've had several questions.

Thanks for the link! It's great. I also liked the Z28 emblem with the 5.7 liter HO decal and then the Irocz center cap!

A thread like that was started on the Tech forum a couple of years ago. Let's not go there with this thread.

Here is a pic after getting the motor into the car. It has definately been a long 2 1/2 years, but finally starting to think that I may get to drive it this year.

Let me know what you think....

The flat black is going to be a pain to keep clean as you can see the footprint on the left side of the picture. The only reason that I did it in flat black was because of all of the polished aluminum and chrome on the motor.

I've always loved those valve covers. If they werent so damned expensive, and would fit center bolts, Id get em!

Doesn't someone manufacture a type of adapter that allows you to install a plate on the centerbolt mounts and use perimeter bolt pattern style vavle covers? I thought i saw a set at one time....Maybe i'm crazy.

Man you need to tame that wiring! That and I don't think the alternator is going to do any good where it is

Yah, it was all loomed before i ripped the top end off the engine. I want to figure out what i need and don't need and hopefully rip most of it out. I allready ripped out the old engine harness and computer last summer.

meh, the alt works fine right there.

Rip it all out and run your own wiring. That will give you the option of running it where you want. I wired up an aftermarket fuse block and mounted it to the inside the firewall on the passengers side. Everything in the engine bay or engine related (msd, fuel pump, fan etc.) is powered by that panel. That way if there's a problem I don't have to trace it through the GM harness and fight with fuseable links and daisy-chained circuits.
