Fiero Wing?

Does anyone know if a fiero GT spoiler will fit on an 84 trans am? does any one have pictures of this idea?

It will, but you'll have to do some drilling and filling. The studs on the Fiero spoiler don't line up.
A friend of mine has one on his 84, and I'll have one on my 86 in a couple days or so.
I don't have any pics of his, but I can take some pics of my install.

Redraif has one going on her 82 TA. We started with a decklid panel from a car with no spoiler rather than weld up the holes (to save time). The holes aren't anywhere near the original spoiler holes. It looks pretty good on the car, not as massive as it does on the Fiero. She has pics, but they're not uploaded yet. It actually fits the lines of the TA better than it did the Fiero, almost like they made it for it origianlly but didn't use it.

LT1guy,

Im looking forward to seeing what it looks like on her car. I have been thinking of the same thing for my ride. I have no spoiler on my S/E so I have a "virgin" deck lid to use.

Can't wait to see it.

I would say that is a lofty goal but with the things Ive seen you guys accomplish I wouldn't doubt you can do it!

Hey I hope to be able to attend that show this september. I'd like to take my Iron Duke bird. I'll have to look you guys up.

I would like to set up a spot for my car art business. WDRdesign.com

Tell Shannon I sent her my business cards.

Hey Bill I will let you know when I get them. I think the paint and the dash will be our biggest challenge, but should be amazing if it comes out like we invision it.

On the pics. I should be going ot the photo lab in the next few weeks with tons of update pics on the 82, including the fiero spoiler. I just can't get a decent photo lab, go figure.

great, I can't wait to see the some updates.

Ive got a slight update for my 84 S/E. I have a chance to score a free 5.0 v8. I hope to be able to rebuild the motor and put som hi po parts on it and drop it into the S/E. Should make it move a bit better than the 2.8.

I assume you mean the Aerowing? Some TAs had the regular pedestal spoiler too. While I agree the Aerowing is a nice looking design, nearly every TA from 85-90 has it (including my 85, which will get a Mecham wing, and my 87, currently wingless), and nearly all the original ones are cracked, split, and ready for the trash heap. You could wait weeks for an overpriced fiberglass repro, but if you want a nice, different look on a budget, the Fiero wing is a good way to go. They're fiberglass, without the problems of the rubber Aerowings. Id use one of the repro Aerowings on a restoration (on say a GTA or TTA), but thats about it.

Thanks, guys.

I got mine from usedfieroparts.com for $190, including shipping from CA to NC.
The spoiler was in good condition, and I was told by several people at the body
shop where my brother works that the price was more than fair. Wherever
you get yours from, make sure you also get the pads.

I would check your local Junk yard first. They are rare, but a great saving value can be found picking one up yourself! A local high price yard wanted $50.00 for mine. At a PULL-A-PART type yard, $10-20 bucks. You just have to put in the foot work! Good luck!

Do you have any bigger shots of it? The pic is a bit fuzzy and the background is making it hard to see. I really like it though. It looks like you set yours back as far as I did mine!

Yeah, I had to do it that way. Any farther foward, and the back studs
would've been in the weatherstripping. Moving it forward to clear that
put the front studs in the glass.

Here's about as big as I can make it without going over the kb limit.
As for the fuzziness, it's a new camera; and I'm still learning.

Now that is sweet! I would like to have one like that or the MSE rear spoiler. Can you take a pic of the rear of the car too?

The more I look at that rear wing the more I am sure the next door neighbor to my parents had the same spoiler on his 89 Firebird w/ground fx.

I would look and look at that spoiler and just think...that aint the stock one, it just doesn't look like its the right spoiler.

He since sold that car (about a year or two ago...got a 4thgen.) Im pretty sure that's the spoiler that was on his car. Hmmmmmm interesting.

okay sorry for rambling. i had a picture of his car at one point but Im pretty sure its gone now.

looks sweet!

Thanks for the compliments. A friend of mine put one on his T/A back in
the late 80's, and I was hooked. IMHO, it looks much better than the
stock pedestal spoiler. The only down side is now I gotta get new hatch
struts.

No, I just painted the spoiler. I got the car last Sept., and the just the
body was painted. My brother and I painted the gfx and front/rear bumper
covers. I painted the spoiler with the paint that was leftover from that.
The paint is "Galaxy Silver Metallic" available on GM cars starting in 1999 or 2000.

what's the difference in size between the fiero wing and the stock pedestal wing? look at the rear shot, it doesn't really look any different to me.

It's been a while since I seen a stock pedestal wing, but I think the fiero wing is taller. It's definately wider (looking at it
from the side of the car). IOW, it covers more of the decklid. It's basically just a bigger version of the stock wing.

Wow that looks pretty sharp on the 'bird.
Does anyone have a shot of the Fiero spoiler on a Camaro? I picked one up recently for my 87 SC, looks pretty sharp but I only have it sitting on the deck lid right now.

Paid $20cdn for it

I had no idea the Fiero rear wing looked so good on thirdgen birds. I always wished my stock one was wider from the side view. I think the Fiero is perfect. I am going to look into that now.

Prices must be a lot better around here...I bought a Fiero wing for $100, and got a free 1986 SE(complete but not running) with it!

Redraif, I agree with you 100% about looking around at the pick-a-part places to get a good deal. I happened upon a decklid from a base model bird with no holes drilled and picked it up. I also got a dashpad in almost perfect condition for $15 just before it went to the crusher! I didn't even need one but couldn't let it die when it was so inexpencive to grab. well back to the spoiler topic (kinda), do you have experience with making molds for fiberglass parts? I am thinking about doing a custom spoiler based on the 2nd gen 3-piece TA spoiler and respect the quality of the work you do on your car. I'd appreciate any advice that you can offer.

Im friends with a guy that owns a junkyard, He's a Pontiac Freak! He has a 455 Powered Fiero... Anyway his claim to fame is he buys up alot of Fieros. He has well over 50 of them there. I was thinking about a spoiler and some other stuff swapping into my car Because he seriously sells feiro stuff cheap and has everything you would ever need from them!
