did some wetsanding and bufing today
decided i didn;t like the way the hood looked on the car so i wetsanded again with 1500 and then buffed with sure finish. now my louvers look like crap all old and stuff so i found a new gm set on ebay to replace them. tires should be here this coming week so i can finally get it off the stands and see how it loks all together.

thanks
i'm near springfield....wet sanding is not hard just alot of elbow grease. even buffing is easy if you use a slow cut product. sure finish that i use is very fine so it allows me to go over and over without a worry of burning the paint.

Hi GMTech!
So, you own a 20th TTA too?
Great!
Are you on the TTA maillist? What name do you go by?
Just wondering if you know what your car number is, and what options and milage.
You have a nice collection going!
Another TTA owner,
George

The only reason I mention it as not being body color is because it looks like smooth undercoating of some sort instead of regular paint like the other 4 got. Any idea???

metalic i use a makita buffer with a 6" wool pad with sure finish compound its a liquid. i also have an orage pad that sure finish makes but it seems to put more scratch in the car than it takes out. i bought them both from the autobody store.com. they have some great deals on this type of stuff. i think the entire mikita package with bag two pads and buffer was like 180.00. it has a great varible speed and a slow ramp up start very easy to use and forgiving as you control the speed.

Hi GMTech,
Sorry. I thought you owned the car!
It's always great to see people helping out others with their cars!
Hopefully it'll be on the road soon!

George, Yeah, I just said it was at my house. I tried to get him to come off it, but he wouldn't budge.
Jeff, yes, POR15 is a better description of what it looks like, and my car in question is a Norwood car. I'll have to look at the GTA and see if its a Van Nuys car since its also an '87 but has a red cowl.
-Just confirmed that the body colored cowl is a Van Nuys car.
So in theory, Norwood cars got black cowls and Van Nuys cars got body colored cowls. Hmmmm
