Sequential Tailights

Would these work on our cars. I see alot of Impala SS guys have them and they make them for 4th gen cars as well. Wondering if they would work on our cars. Kinda think it would look neat on the 91-92 GTA style tailights?? If you don't know what im talking about do a google search for Impala Sequential Tailights or "Blink-Blinks".

i like those too, and ive seen them on new mustangs too. It might be easy to do with the turn signals on 87 & up birds. We have an extra slot for a light that isnt used as well as like a 1/4 slot on the end that is also possibl to put a light in there...

Yes they work on TA's. I have them on my '87 GTA race/show car. They were on the car when I bought it but I can find out where the owner got the control box for them.

Ebay Units seem kinda chincy if ya ask me. Chevyguy if you could ask the prev. owner where he got them from and how long they lasted that would be awesome.

that's a reasonable price for what they are, i think i'd do it, if i saw a real vid. not a photoshopped image.

Count me in on this. I've been trying to figure out a DIY scheme, but at this point I'm almost willing to shell out a chunk of money just to have it done right.

WebElectric has that standard kit for $70, and I know for a fact it works with 3rd gens.

The Jersey Electronics one is around $170, but with so many options, its almost worth it. The site is based around Impalas and Eclipses, and a Mustang version is in the works, so I'm not sure how easily it would affix to a 3rd gen. If we put together a massive group order, demonstrating how much interest there is, maybe he'd make it a priority.

I checked those sites out now Im curious, would m GTA tell me there is a tail light out with those kits? also I was thinking about the DRL kit as well but again Im afraid to do it because of my GTAs digital dash beeping at me all the time telling me there are lights out. ONe more question is I know the signals are only two bulbs on our cars but can this kit be set up to make all three on each side blink by putting a different type of bulb in the outter area?

Not to dig up a dead subject but which kit at WebElectric would work with our cars. Im thinking the STS-1 seeing as the Fiero Tailights are pretty well modeled after the Firebird. Should work the same right?

I got mine from foxthundercats.com, and all I did was take out the outside turn only socket and put on a 3 wire (tail, stop, and turn) socket and hook it up per the instructions. Works great! Both the turn signals and the emergency flashers sequence thru all three sockets on my GTA style tails. I highly recommend them.

Im still kickin the idea around too but Im a little iffy because my info center might tell me I have a light out all the time.

WinnipegGTA: the kit that i have is the STS-1

and yes you have to add a 3-wire socket because the outside socket that comes with our cars is only a two wire socket (parking light and ground)

vernw: are you happy at the rate that your lights flash? if so did u modify the flasher or did you just buy one that flashes slower....??

I used the standard electronic flasher they included in their kit. And I grabbed 2replacement 3 wire sockets at Pep Boyz to replace the tail/turn sockets.

I'm pleased with the flashing speed as well.

Videos of sequential tail lights? I dunno about thirdgens specifically, but there are tons of clips on these websites that sell them...

yah it is using the STS-1 kit from webelectricproducts.com and an electronic semi-truck flasher from napa

i tried modifying a thermal one but i couldn't get it to work right....i think im going to get another thermal one and tweak with it again because i think it flashes just a little too fast...but i definately like the stop lights....

The turn signals are just like mine. I don't have the sequential brake lights though, those are cool!

that should all depend on where you run your signal wire for the module.......

if u run your signal wire for the module up to the turn signal indicators in the dash then they will only come on when you turn...

if you run the signal wire off of the wire for the rear tail light assembly they will do the sequencing when you hit the brakes.....

I'm not using the STS-1 product, I've got the TCSF-03 from foxthundercat.com

On my sequencer, the inputs tie directly to the harness under the tail lights before it splits out to the individual sockets. Then the sequencer outputs go to the 3 1157 based sockets (probably just like yours).

Guess I need to grab a buddy to verify the brake light operation. If I remember correctly, the harness has separate feeds for the turn signals vs. the stop lights, but let me check and get back to you.....

OK, I admit it, I'm a Dum Schitz.

Call it a Senior Moment. My brake lights do the sequencing until they're all on, and then stay taht way until the brake pedal is let off.

I like my sequencer!!!!
