Dyno Don 1-3/4" headers with AIR tubes (price dropped, 310 plus shipping)

I can honestly say that these literally have less then 1 mile on them. Unfortunately I had a retarded timing issue that made them run hot and that's why most of ceramic coating is dulled. They do have some scuff and scratches from the install, but now I'm not continuing with the project so they are for sale now. Dyno Don gets $535 plus shipping for these new. I'm looking for $310 plus shipping for them. You even get the stainless steel studs and nuts that I used on the collector flanges.

I don't have a y pipe, it was on a dual cat set up that was a bit of a one of a kind fab job. But I know that Don can make on for ya.

shipping to 27614 would only be $45. With the 3/8 flanges, 1-3/4" heavy gauge tubes, they are pretty heavy.

these would go onto a 305 wouldn't they?

edit: damn no Y-Pipe, that makes them less desirable due to cost of having to have Y-Pipe made.

I'll make you a Y-pipe for $215 + shipping.
It's 2 1/2" to 3" aluminized tubing.

Re: Dyno Don 1-3/4" headers with AIR tubes (price dropped, 310 plus shipping)

Just curious bout the dual cat setup; the exhaust system came together past the cats correct? In other words, after the headers, there were separate pipes running to each cat, then the y-pipe; correct. Curious cause the motor is out of my car and I am thinking bout switching to dual cat setup. Also, interested in these pipes; what is the shipping price to 78219? Thanks

Yes, that is correct. I have all those pipes, and they are all welded together though. So pretty much too large to ship. I have the cats and and a couple 2-1/2" flex pipes welded into them. If you have some exhaust fab skills or know somebody that does. I could probably cut the pipes off (sections with the header flange and you can finish the exhaust. But you might be better off simply getting the dual cat pipes from Dyno Don as they would be longer and "trim to fit". Let me know if you want some pics to clarify what I mean.

Re: Dyno Don 1-3/4" headers with AIR tubes (price dropped, 310 plus shipping)

Just out of curiosity what is the benefit of running dual cats when they come back to a single collector (guessing 3") vs. running like what I am (and most people) with a 3" I Pipe w/ High Flow Cat to a performance muffler? I understand true dual exhaust with dual cats, but what is the point of running what Dyno Don showed above in the 2nd attachment? Purely curious here, is it emissions related?

Mine looks like this:

3" I-Pipe + High Flow Cat + 80 Series Flowmaster

BTW if I did pony up the cash and paid for the Y-Pipe, would these headers be a good match for the rest of my exhaust?

My main battle is smog here in California. I dont know if i switched from the dual cats to a single cat if it would still pass the visual inspection. I have to replace my cats anyways since the ones i have seems to have melted when the muffler exploded.

Look at it this way, the body of the cats are all the same.
No matter what the inlet size is, the area of the core inside is the same.
So 4 cylinders thru each one is better than 8 cylinders thru one when talking about volume of exhaust.

Don did you see my last question?

Do you think this would match my current exhaust well or do you think it is a little overkill for my 305? I could pick up a set of Hooker Headers used for $100 + SH on here, but I would still need a Y-Pipe.

They would work well, not overkill.
The only thing killing you is the Flowmaster.

I found a set of Hooker Shorty headers and the seller is throwing in a Y-Pipe for free as long as I pay shipping.

Good luck with your sale, these are too nice for what I need!

Everyone always argues bout the advantagesof dual cats but there's a reason gm moved towards that setup in the late 80's on f-bodies and had it on all tip motors by 1990; more hp. Just like don said. And Don, thanks for the pics. Looks like I will have to eventually order those from you. So if i just get the headers from you tom91bird, what's the shipping cost to 78219?

Thanks for the info don and tbird.
