Plasti-Kote 221 GM Corporate Blue engine enamel
Not happy with how my engine came out with this product. It looks like Ford blue to me. I've already ordered Pontiac Blue in hopes that it comes out a bit lighter. Maybe someone else can comment on this?

I looked at a lot of other photos on Google Images and your paint color is pretty much spot on for GM Corporate Blue. That valve cover color looks more like the color Buick used to paint their engines. Pontiac blue would be a bit more pale in appearance. And that would be the engine color from the sixties and into the early seventies. The metallic blue is something different altogether. I did find a photo of a 1963 Pontiac engine that was painted the same color as your valve cover.

I did a double-check on this. My camera shows this picture quite a bit brighter than it really is in person. It does that with the new paint I put on there as well. Maybe the flash has something to do with it. Either way, it matches Ford blue very very close. I stand by my review.

You're not the only one that has mentioned this difference in color shade.
Some think it's because of age and heat cycling. However, this post may shed some light on this.

You might want to do your own web search for this. I'd try Corvette forums in particular as that crowd is typically picky about correctness.
Good luck in finding any NOS correct paint at a dealership (P/N's are in the attached link).

So, I ended up going with Pontiac Blue. Here's what I used: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...0487&ppt=C0171
Here's how it came out. Very happy with it.

Mind if I ask why you are so particular about the blue when it's not the correct engine color anyhow? I believe 83 was when they went to black.

Sure. Lots of parts under the hood are going to be black. A blue engine will stand out more. The blue is much closer in production years than orange would be. An 83 is only a year off. Plus, I think blue would look better here than orange.
