Am I the only one that thinks it's just a bit on the tacky side? I understand that's the nature of a show car somethimes, though...
[Engaging Flame Retardant Suit; IMO]
EDIT; I can feel the heat already, it's just that gold and big air-brused "murals" are very outdated. It's not as if I don't comprehend the attention to detail.

Totally not my thing, i like very simple looking engine bays, but i dont argue with anything that has a hole cut in the hood that is clearance for a good sized blower.

Christ, that car belongs in a circus. The engine resembles the design of some effeminate jewelry magnate who thinks the world should be covered in shiny gold or silver.
I'd sooner pay 40k for that rusted shell of a Firebird rotting in the backlot of my local junkyard than that monstrosity. At least I could sleep at night.

WOW
The amount of detail done to that car is so amazing that it is almost rediculous. Definitely an eye catcher. Sure it's not my style, but I'm sure it's exactly what Eddie wanted.
Good Job

Some guy did a Studebaker up like that, polished up engine and all. Won best of show about 3 years ago at the local car show. Impressive but not something I'd do hehe. btw, anyone notice that ugly *** car that's so popular with everyone at TGO? page 3.

That is just to clean for my taste. I like engines like I like girls. Just a little bit dirty. Pour some oil in that sucker sloppy. Let it run down the valve cover and cook on the header. Oh yea baby.

I really shocked and amazed at some of the obtuse comments here.
Im not sure if its jealosy or just pure ignorance. Was this a poll?
Do you think because you put a 4th gen spoiler on your car that gives you the right to pass judgment on a project of this magnitude?
His car has won more awards than this entire board combined and its not the end result but how he got there.
Even with a severe disabilty he had a vision for this car and saw it through.

"People are entitled to their opinions"
Opinions are great, insults are uncalled for.
"but have simply said it is not ther thing"
Umm I think personal attacks go a little beyond that
"Who are you to make a comment like that?"
Somebody with an opinion, see first item.

OK kids, be nice.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, including the guy who originally posted.
Keep in mind that a show car is really no longer a vehicle, it is designed to be seen, not heard, if you get my drift. As such, it is a competition vehicle built to win, but instead of speed competition, it is built to see who can create the most visual noise. This car does that very well, and the attention to detail is impressive. It has to sit in a row with other cars of similar style and compete for attention without ever starting it's engine. For a show car, totally over the top and tasteless is necessary and functional.
However, I am not a show car buff at all. To me, a car's function should always come before it's form, not the other way around. This car's function is a "trailer queen" never to be driven, and to impress people who care nothing for how well the car actually works, or even driving it. To me, I see it not as an asset (a fun car to drive) but as a liability (a giant trophy that needs to be polished and never driven). For my tastes, it is not remotely attractive, it is overdone and gaudy.
I think that is where a lot of these guys are coming from. If you're really into show cars, I'm sure it's bitchen. If somebody offered it to me for free, and I couldn't sell it, I'd just say "no thanks".
Not my thing. It's like a woman, not everyone likes the same thing. What is your ultimate is not everyone elses, no matter who you are. I build my cars to impress me, and I really don't care who else likes it.

Opinions are great but your above comment is an insult, an insult to people you don't even know.

I think he did a good job.
Something that kept him motivated through the darkness of his operations and recouperation.
To me, it's more of a tribute to his Dad and his dog that after he lost both of them he had something to focus on. He could have felt sorry for himself and just sold the car. A lot of money was used in my opinion, but he doesn't have to justify it to anyone I guess.
Just my 2 cents.
Jim.

Lokk guys, the car show thing is pretty cool. I've done a car that was in Popular Hotrodding years ago and won the ISCA southeast division, it was a heck of a lot of work, and I respect anyone that can accomplish that. That being said, I do like race cars, having done both drag racing and road couses. But... if it wasn't for the car shows, I would never had learned to be as detailed in my work on the race car.

I think the car is very nicely built. It's not really my style, but thats whats so great about these cars.
I've been to that place that only building a car can bring you out of (thats why mine is the way it is).
My hat is off to Eddie

I saw Eddies car in person this weekend at a local Pontiac show. I must saw that the pictures do not do the car justice. I saw the pics and was horrified, after seeing the car in person I can honestly say that it really does look awsome.
The paintwork was down right amazing.
It looks sooooo much better in person. I like it.
BTW I agree, he needs some larger tires to fill in the wheel wells better IMO. I was also puzzled by the hatch shocks too, oh well.

do you know for sure the hatch struts are bad? I would have put a piece to hold it up even if they were brand new because that hatch is so damn heavy the struts certainly would have been garbage by the end of the day, theyre not designed to hold the hatch up for like 12 hour periods of time

Personally, I've never liked the hard core poser show car look, even if it doesn't live the life of a trailer queen and gets driven on the road... just don't like the look. I like a car more on the "contemporary" side of design. Clean and simple with just a touch of class. I would much rather have, say, an '85 Recarao Edition T.A., or perhaps an anniversary edition...
That being said... amazing paint and super clean bird. Lots of work to build and maintain. Just don't like it.
