jeff311270 what kind of cage is it?
It was very affordable and does what I want it to do look cool, protection, and it certainly stifened up the body night and day difference! Not to mention I can remove the whole thing, parts of it (diagnal& Crossbar) and its not a permanent fixture to my 14 year old cream puff.
Everything I was looking for with my car...
If I was building a race car strickly for track use would a weld in cage be best most likely. Yet, if I was going to build race cars for compitition on a road course I certainly would buy a better car for that purpose than the heavy sled that I have. Maybe like a like a 350Z or a 91 TT 300Z, Mustang GT, BMW, Corvette, GTO...
Anyhow, this bar is certified for SCCA so it cant be that unsafe or worthless so if I ever wanted to go thrash on my car at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course just for fun I still can...The bar has nice mounting plates and is defitly not going anywhere that a weld in wouldnt go. Its not like I'm running 220MHP at Talladega or Daytona come on now!
In conclusion, this bar gives me way more options than that of a weld in, its 1000 times less expensive and does the same thing within reason. Autopower has been around forever they have a quality product and are definitly big in the import market. This bar fits so good in there its a great tight fit.
I highly recomend it and want to thank 84 Custom for the recomendation. Had not been for him and seeing how well his turned out I would have never known about this option.

That statement just confuses me though. You list the TT 300Z, bmw, gto and mustang gt as being better platforms? Those are all just as heavy, if not heavier than our cars.
Meh...Just cause it's alittle older doesn't mean it isn't better.

alright dude, heavy car? man, mine weighs 3080lbs with full interior and sub. but i guess that's heavy. sorry, i built my car to thrash on it everywhere, not to let it live in a bubble and take it out occasionally. heck, i even daily drive mine. and the next car will be even more badass...

Shawn, I think you'll have people arguing with you all day long on which would be the better car. Fact is, for the same money your turd gen would be faster and handle better.
BTW, there is no way that the 350z weights 1450lbs. Just not happening. Whatever floats your boat.

Ok i got a question i see that u cut holes in the side panels so that the bars could go through and bolt to the floor. My question is how can u remove the panels if u need too? Did u cut a slit in them so u could remove them? Im very interested im going to be putting in a cage this summer and would like to know.

Yeah I was just BS ing you to see if you belived me on the 350Z. I don't know of any full size car or race car that weighs 1450LBS...: ) I was just trying to start some controversy. I do love those cars though...If I wanted a car payment I would get one.

On the wheel wells they custom drilled a nice hole for the bar to go through to the wheel well. I could either take up the plastic and slide it up and unbolt the bar from the main hoop. Unbolt the bar if needed.

all of those cars listed, stock for stock will beat your car. however, they are all going to put a huge dent in your wallet. for half the price of those cars you could buy a nice third gen and build it to smoke any one of those cars.
i think he misread wherever he got that number. a 350z weighs 1450 kilos, not lbs. 1450 kg x 2.2 = 3190 lbs.
