Well, I knew it was going to happen...I have locked my one and only set of keys inside my 1991 Trans Am, which has a dead battery. My buddy said he used to be able to just pry down the window where the t-top meets on his 84 z28, I tried that but to no avail. I'm out of ideas other than smashing a t-top.

Call a cab, the ones in my area carry slim jims and will open your car for a small fee.

Or call a locksmith, same thing

The car's a project for right now, not running at parked at my work...so I have a couple of days before I'm going to see it again. The local junkyard sells t-tops for $30, which is probably a whole lot less than a locksmith would charge. But is it possible to switch the lock cylinder in a t-top? If not, I'd be SOL if I ever wanted to lock the new one...

the same thing happened to me 2 months ago. you are going to need either a angled rod or a coat hanger bent the same way. Slip it in between the ttop and window and attempt to push the little lever forward, or if you have power locks, use the end and mash the unlock button (if you can supply some power some how)..
good luck mand, i would hate to see you break some glass to get some keys.

If you have AAA, call em up. I locked the keys in one of my other cars, guy shows up and in like 2 minutes, hes in.

Its sick how easy it is to break into a car....

you could drill out the lock cylinder for the trunk.. after you drill it out you just turn a screw driver and the hatch pops.. had to do it with mine

Hmm...I still think the t-top would be the best idea...anyone know if the tint level was the same for all years/models?

I'm a slow learner, done it a coule times. Gently pry the windo away from the ttop. You should be able to get enough to where you can slide your hand in and pop a ttop loose. As long as the tops aren't locked.

2 Minutes, damn that's slow. I locked my keys in my 83 T/A years ago, and a friend who worked doing repo's opened the door inless then 15 seconds with a slim jim.

And yeah all you should need to do is take off the radio antenna, pry the window away from the t-top and pop the lock.

I would invest in a theif kit for this job and keep it for later, you will need it. I bought a kit from snap on that includes all needs for picking locks and a tool for sliding down the window. I have shaved door handles and one time left the keys in the car while running so I lost half a tank of gas before I could open it. Also, its a good idea to just keep a trunk key in your wallet for emergencies. I got locked out of my friends car in Chicago one time and happened to come across a homeless person who I payed to break into my car, no joke.

i did this about a month ago man....i just brought a long metal rod with me, pulled the window away from the car and stuck it in there and hit my rear hatch switch with the rod. then climbed in the back and hit the unlock button. really easy to break into our cars

slim jims are $1,using them takes 10seconds.

dont smash your ttop, thats just crazy.

try unlatching your ttop or something,once its unlatched you can just take it off.

slim jim.... **** dude. a ruler is all ya need. slide it in above the DRIVERS SIDE door lock and push down, you will here a click. ten seconds.....

i once used a folded up information brochure on cheveron credit cards when i locked them in the car at a gas station.....
