How do you get rid of that Hood/Bumper gap?
I've noticed that some 3rd Gens have a gap between the hood and the front bumper. Is that just an alignment issue? It looks like my fender/door gap is tight at the bottom and opened a bit at the top. I'm assuming that maybe the nose is just sagging a little and needs to be adjusted up?
Here's a picture to illustrate the gap I'm talking about.........................

Loosen the four bolts in the yellow boxes & the two in the center(arrow). This will let you raise/lower the bumper. You can also level the hood to the fenders w/ the two bumpers on the corners of the hood.

Hey thanks a lot for adding the diagram with your answer. I really appreciate it. To be honest, I figured it would have been much more involved than that.

I see those kinds of problems most often with 'glass hoods, not OEM hoods.
And Firebirds have the same kind of adjustments. Just that the center one boxed in is a bit more difficult to reach, but not impossible. The flat plate in the middle can be removed, but then the latch is no longer secure & the held cannot be held down.

I'm pretty sure my problem is what I mentioned before, in that the Door/Fender gap is open at the top and tight an the botoom. I think the whole nose of my car is sagging,.....not just the bumper.

Re: How do you get rid of that Hood/Bumper gap?
Thanks for the suggestion,......but yeah, that was the first thing I tried. I was hoping I could just suck the hood down closer to the bumper but it didn't work. I lowered the latch bolts as low as they would go. When that didn't work, I came here and started this thread.
If you stand on either side of my car, you can see a wide gap at the top where my door & fender meet. (Yet it's very tight at the bottom) That tells me the whole front of my car is sagging, not just the bumper. Whether that gets rid of my hood to bumper gap I don't know, but the frontend definitely needs to come up a little. I think I'm probably just going to take it to a body shop and have them adjust the whole nose so that everything aligns up accordingly.

Re: How do you get rid of that Hood/Bumper gap?
You know what I just realized?.......I'm missing a bracket.
I just went back up and looked at that diagram "84 1LE" left me (with the yellow boxes and the arrow) and to my surprise the bracket that's "below the arrow" is missing. If you look at the very bottom of the "yellow arrow" you can see two bolts that attach a thin bracket which runs up to the area where the arrow is pointing to.
On my car that bracket is missing. Maybe that's why my bumper is sagging! It appears as though the two bolts the arrow is pointing at, may be connected to that bracket that's missing on my car. I'll have to go check that out.
Yep, it's definitely missing,.....check it out

Yes get that bracket and when you get it you will see that there is a lot of room for adjustment. I would attach it loosely then have someone pull it up to where it needs to be while you tighten it. There is also adjustments in the brakets just next to the headlights. My car been in a fender bender and the brackets were actually bent. I had to take them off and straighten them. There are 3 total. The one you are missing and the 2 just next to the headlights(the headlight bar.

Re: How do you get rid of that Hood/Bumper gap?
You know, I went out and loosened up all the bolts you said, but it didn't allow me to adjust it "Up or Down". It would only move "Front to Back".
