Please get rid of the SA. Then I could agree with your combo using an X-CELerator.

upgrading the carb is first on the list after I get the car running again. right now I just want to be able to drive it again.
I should probably mention that the car is just a fair weather car not a daily driver and it sees mostly street time when it comes out, with about 6-8 trips to the track a year.
I was running an Edelbrock RPM air gap on my vortecs and have considered staying with one of those. Will the X-CELerator give me much more top end than and RPM would?

VERY little,if any.Get an RPM for the new heads,or a Weiand Stealth. The X-celerator is 70s technology, they just aren't up to par for today's camshaft profiles and cylinder heads.

well I continued looking for info about the X-CELerator and finally found something useful. Someone was just making observations on it by looking at the ports etc. and mentioned that the angle that the ports meet the heads causes the air to make a sharp turn going into the head. So that one is off my list but now I like the look of the Team G manifold. any thoughts on that one?

I had a Team G before swapping to FI. Before that I had a Street Dominator. Very noticable difference from 3500 rpm up.

Just my ,and worth just what it costs you,but not knowing what cam your running, nobody can give any solid advice.
IMO,if you only make a few trips to the track a year,I'd still stick with my earlier advice of an RPM or similar intake.
Yes,a Team G or Vic jr. will produce better high RPM power. But just for cruising and stoplight fiascos, the RPM type intake is going to out do the single plane almost every time.
Unless you have a massive cam and very loose convertor,I still vote for an Air Gap RPM.

cam is 236/236 @ .050 with .555/.555 110LSA trans is a T56.
A lot of times when I am cruising around it is with friends driving modified LS1's so I was kind of wanting an intake that'll run on the top end since these guys like to run from a roll.
