Here's a wiring guide for a Viper alarm which includes the necessary ignition wires/colors:

Yep. Orange is hot only with the key set to RUN. I haven't seen this kit, but it makes more sense to me to have the power locks wired hot all the time (red wires). That's how the factory locks are set up. Also makes it a load easier to integrate with an aftermarket alarm.

One more thing: Those ignition wires are so thick that my 100W soldering gun wouldn't heat them enough to melt any solder. I had to use a propane torch. If you do this, be careful not to melt/set anything on fire.

No matter where you connect the power for the kit, please, please run a fuse (20A is good in most cases for power locks) as the only protection on the ACC line is a fusible link and would heat most small wires like a light bulb before popping.

OK...the power for the system appears to come directly from the battery and I'm guessing the ACC hookup is some kind of extra feature. Maybe it locks/unlocks the doors with key on/off. The system as a whole looks easy enough -- appears to be a fairly self-contained, modular way of doing the power locks. From the schematic, you just hook up +12V form the battery, ground and ACC & you should be ready to go.

As for the "...running it to the ACC will prevent the car from turning on..." part -- that doesn't make sense to me because other than the fact that that is not a necessary feature in a power door lock system, there would need to be a starter kill relay and there is obviously not. Maybe it stops the power locks from actuating based upon key on/off?

That really depends on the function oif the wire that's connecting to it. Most installers consider "any ignition wire that is hot in RUN, but NOT hot in START" to be an ACC wire. Of course, there is an actual ACC position on the key which is a brown wire. This runs to the wipers and the radio only. All things weighed, it looks like they really do mean the orange ACC wire in the ignition harness.

Fun, huh?
