tbi to tpi swap need help

i am swapping from tbi to tpi on my 89rs and i really need some help, i put all of the tpi stuff and wiring harness in my car i got all the fuel gas and air hoses on, every wire is conected and my car will not start. I am getting spark and the car will crank but i am not getting fuel, i hooked the auto xray to my car and it said my car was not responding. i got my fuel pump in but it will not pump any fuel, checked all the fuses and they are all good. well i don't really know what to do right know i cant figure out why my fuel pump is not pumping any fuel and why my car is not resonding to the autoxray. if any body could give me any anvise on what i can do to do fix some of these problems please help. thanks

Hey, I'm doin the same swap(actually the whole driveline is gettin replaced).

The only thing I can think of is the VATS. Do you have the chip in your key? Did you by-pass it or have the computer programed to deal with it?

Check the pinouts of connector C207 which is the underdash connection between the engine harness and chassis harness. ALDL, fuel pump, and some gauges connect here.

When I swapped an '88 GTA TPI harness into my '82 I had to do some pin changes on C207 as well as C100 (firewall connector below the relay bracket drivers side). The pinouts vary from year to year so it's very possible that a few connections on your '89 side aren't where the new TPI harness thinks they are.

Sounds like your fuel pump isn't getting any power.

I had the same problem in my LT1 swap the first time I tried to fire up, so I took an extra battery and started giving the fuel pump power at various locations along the wire.

Turns out that in my 85 the fuel pump power wire just went to a connector by the driver kick panel but didn't connect to anything.

are you getting voltage to the fuel pump relay?are you getting voltage to the fuel pump connector that is mounted on the bottem side of the body near the gas tank.you should have more than 12 volts there with the key on.

i found out what was wrong with my fuel pump and i got it fixed and i put a new fuel preshure regulater on my car. but now i cant get my car to stay running. It will turn on fine and then it will die shortly after. i have a 2.0 injector pulse and the mvolts for my o2 sensor stays at 444 and it is saying that my cars 02 sensor is not ready. even after the car has been running for over a minute or so. I have been able to keep my car running that long but when i try to give it gas it dies on me. The autoxray is telling me that when i give the car just a lil gas my injector pluse shoots up to 7/8 and some times nine or ten even, it fluds my engine with fuel and then it dies on me or it can stay running if i give it a lil more air. but the autoxray says that i am running lean. I can not figure out what the hell is wrong with my car and i don't know what to do anymore. if anybody has expereance this problem please let me know what i have to do to fix it. I fixed tons of air lecks and i got a new maf even. cecked all my air hoses form the evac canaster and the ball that is under it,i had an injector pluse of 7.5 befor i fixed a bunch of air lecks. so i don't know what to do next. thanks for all the help. also what does the maf burnoff relay and the maf rely do? I had a pin that was bunt on one of those relys and i fixed that also, but the car still runs the same.

it dies on you when you give it alttile gas?
i have the same problem.it's my IAC motor,it's stuck open causing a bad vacume leak.i'm waiting untill tomorrow to replace it.

do you have any idea what it is that could be wrong with your car? i just decided to put a carb on my car, and swallowed the lose. i would still like to know what was not working on my car but i have now idea what it could be rith now. The car ran fine for a day and then i just kept getting problems after that. frist it was the starter then the fuel pump then i had bad air licks and one then after another and now i just don't know what could be wrong with it, it don't do **** anymore i can't even drive the thing down the driveway with out it turnign off. any way good luck
