Five Years Since I was Down The Track

Last time slip was from August 2003. The car was a 355, 5spd and 4:11 gears. It ran the best of 12.20's at 115 mph with a 1.81 60ft.

It is now a 383, Th350 and 3:73 gears. I drove it to the track which is two hours away, changed the tires and the first of 31 passes was an 11.86 at 115mph with a 1.71 in the 60ft.

The class I was running in last weekend was a Heads Up, Pro-Tree and an 11.90 index. All my buddy's told me not to touch the car but my goal was to come home with an 11.50 timeslip.

Early sunday time trials I grabbed my timing light and put more timing in the car and it kept getting faster until it run 11.588 at 118.42mph.

I quickly set the timing back and ran the 11.90 index where I met my buddy in the finals and won first place. I attached the winning timeslip....man that was close!!!!!

I know there is more in this car yet!!! I didn't touch the carb. and left the suspension settings because I wasn't having traction issues.

Thanks to this message board and the "Search" function I am running Mid 11's.

Re: Five Years Since I was Down The Track

I was #1 qualifer and there was an odd number of cars so I got a bye run first round. From what I remember I went another 4 rounds and then into the finals.

Re: Five Years Since I was Down The Track

Here is my fastest timeslip and I would like to know what you guys think. I know this car will run faster.

The car ran the best with 38 degrees of timing(locked out) and shifting at 6000rpm.

I think the 3:73's and 28 in tall slick is hurting me a little too. The car crosses the line at around 5500rpm.

The carb. ran well right of the box so I left it alone. Not even sure what is in it for jetting.

Do I need to work on 60ft's?

Re: Five Years Since I was Down The Track

Your timeslips look very similar to mine. Under ideal conditions a 1.66 60ft would be an 11.9X ET and 118mph would be an 11.2X ET so you should ideally get the 60ft's down into the 1.5X's to run the ET your car is capable of.

Looks like you're another Demon owner running quick right out of the box. I don't know how many times I've been told that my Demon sucks, yet it runs great with no tuning

I'd check the jets if I were you. My mighty 750 out of the box had NO jets in the secondarys AT ALL!

Re: Five Years Since I was Down The Track

I would say there is more left in the 60....I am running 1.679 short times, but only running 12.38 @108....I would think you should be able to get the short times down to 1.55-1.60. What is the weight of the car, and what slicks are you running?

and i can add to this.. i have a mighty demon 750 with annular boosters.. jetting is supposed to be 5 sizes smaller than normal.. so 70/78 vs 75/83.. carb came with 85/93.. ran like garbage and couldnt figure it out.. now its good though.. but i'm going with pro-systems when my next build comes.. no bull..

Re: Five Years Since I was Down The Track

How does the track know how to break the reaction time into driver rt and car rt?

I would guess it weighs 3600lbs, and running 28X10.5 stiffwall slicks with 16psi.

Rears shocks were in middle settings, 5psi in left airbag and 25 in right airbag. I put a slightly shorter end link on left side of rear swaybar. I run 90/10's in front and no front swaybar. Couple of degrees of negative pinion angle and one hole lower than stock on LCARB's.

I'd check the jets if I were you. My mighty 750 out of the box had NO jets in the secondarys AT ALL!
I am very curious now to see what is in the carb. for jets. I wonder what size would be typical for my combination? I hope I can make another trip to the track before season's end.
