2002 LQ4 engine from Yukon XL - Cable Operated Throttle Body
2002 Wiring Harness, Thinned out and removed the Trans components, and the rear O2 sensors

LQ4 w/non-computer trans - what to change in 411 PCM for "startup tune"

I've got a 2002 LQ4 engine that I'm swapping in front of an old non-computer controlled trans and need some help with tune or figuring out what initial tune to load. I've heard I can use a Silverado...

Re: car wont start after it is warm

Sounds like it's flooding for some reason then - the only logical choice is a few injectors are leaking when the engine is off and probably even while it's running - I'd pull and clean the injectors...

Re: car wont start after it is warm

Have you tried holding the pedal to the floor and cranking it over and seeing if it clears itself and starts? If you have injector(s) leaking down it can temporarily flood a few cylinders with fuel...

Re: car wont start after it is warm

If you're sure it's a weak spark and not loading with fuel due to leaking injector(s) then there are only a couple of parts that create the spark - primarily the distributor(module), the coil itself,...

Ignition coil - weak coils will usually break down with heat - I've had cars do exactly what you're experiencing - takes a little while to heat soak then the spark is so weak it can't light off the...

Re: No Start/no injector pulse

Glad to hear it's back up and running - that's a LOT of fuel washing down the cylinders - I'd make sure to run it and get the engine oil hot to evaporate any remaining fuel out of the crankcase

Re: 85 IROC 305 refresh advise wanted

I wouldn't even pull the heads off - no reason to change out a good set of head gaskets unless you're planning on doing some head work. I'd just change the valve stem seals "in place" with some...

That is for a single head and it's about the going rate for a stock reman head. When it says 16 valves that means the engine is 16valve - unlike the newer overhead valve engine where you've got 32...

Re: am I ok using 50 PSI fuel hose?

43-47 is the spec I recall - you'll be fine pressure wise with the 50 PSI fuel hose as they usually have some margin built into the design.

Re: am I ok using 50 PSI fuel hose?

Get the right hose - that hose submerged in ethanol fuel constantly doesn't last real long in my experience - you'll be replacing it in about 2-4 years... Get the new ethanol "flex fuel" hose.
