Re: T56 swap - answers to questions that arnt normally covered.

The clutch inspection cover is GM part number 10241153. Mine came with the trans from the wrecking yard, but for some reason I know what that number is. It may be NLA (no longer available) too, but...

Re: T56 swap - answers to questions that arnt normally covered.

That's a good deal for a mini starter. When they first hit the market you were lucky to find one under $250. Chevy's with headers always have starter problems. The Ford solenoid helps, but doesn't...

Re: T56 swap - answers to questions that arnt normally covered.

I am not familiar with every single combination over the course of the small block Chevy's production, but as a general rule there were two flywheel/flexplate sizes: 153 tooth and 168 tooth. Each...

Re: under drive pulleys

One thought on the hot running issue is that these cars were set from the factory to turn the cooling fans on at 220 degrees. Consequently that may be entirely normal. If the fan is not electric,...

Re: under drive pulleys

There is absolutely a measurable power gain. If you had the car on a chassis dyno you may or may not see it depending on the dyno's correction factors and degree of accuracy. On an engine dyno the...

Heat does play a role, because as noted it increases resistance. One thing I forgot to mention is that you should run at least a 4 gauge wire from the primary output on your alternator to the...

Re: 700r4 4x4 to camaro conversion

Anything's possible. The 700R4 and the TH350 share a lot of design elements, so it wouldn't surprise me that the tailshaft housing bolts up. If the housing covers the end of the output shaft, and...

I've never had an issue with my alternator charging and I'm running a set of March underdrives. In Delaware we regularly get 90+ degree weather during the summer with a heat index well above 100. ...

Re: T56 swap - answers to questions that arnt normally covered.

Not sure on the speedo box. The two places that offer them of which I'm aware are Abbot and JTR. Keep in mind that's dated information.

It makes no difference with the motor in or out doing the...

If you can't do the welding the cost of this "cheap swap" can get out of hand in a hurry. They are going to have to cut off your brackets and weld them onto the new housing correctly, and then fab...

First off, the reverse lockout solenoid is designed to be "on" when no power is applied. So without power it still works. At low speed you can "crash through" into reverse using brute strength to...

It's an '87 or later car. I'm not sure the exact year, but it has a serp belt system and that started in '87. I'll take $100 for the harness plus shipping.

Re: Crossmembers?

Re: possibly t-56 swap answers needed.

The other issue with the '93 trans is the wider ratios. The '94-ups have a better spread between the gears and the .50 6th pairs it up perfectly with 3.73 or 4.11 rear gears. Gears that steep on a...

Re: t56 swap questions....

The VSS signal from the speedo goes to the ECM, so if the speedo is still driven mechanically it all works like a factory setup. Nothing to do except connect the speedo cable to the modified T56.

Yeah, but last time I checked that conversion cost around $350 from JTR. If you know of a low buck way to do it by all means share.
