So, my fan comes with the a/c on no matter what temp the car is at. Although the new motor comes on perfectly fine when it's supposed to with the a/c off. Now what?

Sorry, I meant any gunk build up. I've always done my best to keep both of my vehicles running as clean as possible by running chevron gas and seafoaming them every oil change.

Re: Are 1.6 rockers worth it?

I'm not sure if it would get that part of the head but I've always run sea foam through my cars. I think it just needs stem seals, it only smokes on start up and never when actually driving.

Are 1.6 rockers worth it?

I'm going to replace my valve seals soon, while I'm in there I was thinking of tossing in some new rocker arms. Are the gains worth it, if any?

Re: Is this still a timing issue???

Check the cat. What your describing is exactly what my car was doing with a clogged cat, I put a dynomax high flow one on and it runs like a raped ape. As much as a stock TBI 305 can anyway.

Re: Car gets really hot, really fast.

I just replaced the fan motor, not the whole assembly. It wouldn't kick on at idle even with the car at 240+. It works fine now, I'm still going to get the new relay though. 220 is still too hot...

That would be understandable if I had taken it to a dealer. Even then it would be there **** up and they would be paying for it.

Re: Anybody ever have a car die randomly?

It's only died once when the fan kicks on. Although you can tell the car loses voltage when it kicks on or you turn the AC on. The last two times it just shut itself off.

Re: Anybody ever have a car die randomly?

Yeah, it fires right back up. Cranks for maybe a second and turns on.

The whole fuel pump assembly is only 2 1/2 years old. I would hope it's nothing to do with that.

Re: WOT SMOKE

I was going to say maybe it's running rich enough you're getting a lot of carbon build up but if it's blue then it's oil. Pull a spark plug out and take a look.

Re: Going down in exhaust size, worth keeping the high flow cat?

3" is way too much for a stock TBI 305. It makes a lot of noise taking off, but doesn't really take off. I lost a lot of low end, even keeping the chokemaster.

The urge to swap engines is there, it's just not feasible. The motor only has between 60,000-70,000. I'm not positive because the odometer broke at 57,000. That and I'd just like to give the car a...
