You don't have to and if it's otherwise working fine, just leave it be. If you want it to open a little earlier you could get a 180* stat but with that fan temp, you'll be fine with the stocker.

Then I would save any engine modifications until later. The best mod I did to my car was the sub-frame connectors. They tightened up the entire chassis and made the car "Feel" faster simply by it...

Headers free up power your engine already has. You'll definitely hear the sound but it'll also wake up the motor 15-25hp because the factory logs are restrictive. How much you'll "feel" it depends...

I ran my hoses under the carpet immediately behind the center console, hugged up against it under the ashtray. No one ever steps there and I left enough slack for the seats to slide on each end.

I think I would be pretty happy with that compression ratio. I understand there is still some guesswork because I don't know the gaskets or the deck height or any of that.

it's possible I supposed. The -7cc is what the piston spec's at from the manufacturer as you can see from the link I posted above.

I found Tony's thread on his 500rwhp 383 over on ls1tech. It's fairly impressive. The bore of the block was matched to the pistons that came with it and it's already 3.905. Not sure how much more...

Look up Dirty Dingo, LSSImple or ICT for the brackets. You can even get a highmount style alternator bracket to put the alternator and AC in the same factory locations they are on the TPI engines.

You really can't unless you move the motor mounts. Only real option are the ls1 style exhaust manifold or the e-rod manifolds since none of the aftermarket header options are california legal.

You want the Herko sending unit kit. It's about a 15 min swap if you have the tank out of the car. Switches the 4th gen sender to a 0-90ohm so it works with the third gen gauge.

I have an 84, my system runs identical to how Sofa's runs in his 83. They should be the same in the 85 as well. Let us know what you find out.

In 98 they changed the bell housing style on the 4l60's. Before 98 they're all the same as the 700R4 from 83-92 and then 4l60e 93-97. In 98+ they went to a different "LS" style bell housing.

The hooker blackheart has a really good sound, as does any 3" catback using an Aero Chamber muffler. Beyond that, I enjoy the Magnaflow I have now. Subtle but roars under heavy throttle.
