I did try starting it with cables backwards. I didnt know there was an ECM on a 1980. I dontknow where the ecm fuse even would be, I'll have to scour wiring diagrams.

Sucked on the gas line to bring fuel up to the carb and now it ran enough to suck some gas into the floats I guess? SImple fixes are best sometimes.

UNFORTUNATLY, I just picked up a 79 with a 383...

Yes it was running a couple days ago.

The line that goes from the fuel tank to the carb, the gas line/pipe/hose.

I heard that if you ran an electric fuel pump without a FPR you can ruin floats or something.

Its an 87 v6-> 350 swap. Was electric in-tank pump, replaced with mechanical pump. It gets gasoline...

If you got one of those 1 liter propane torches, open it up and go around hoses, gaskets, brake booster etc. everywhere. Your engine should rev a tiny bit if it sucks some propane in.

It depends how much money you have. LS1 will be more expensive and complicated but reliable, fuel mileage etc.. Carbed will be cheaper, easier, but definitly less reliable.

25 degrees initial doesnt sound right at all. It should be 8-12 degrees initial, usually 10, itll probly run from -5 up to 15 or more degrees.

Did you remove the cam? Unless your timing chain...

You need spark (at the right time), fuel, and air.

Make sure the timing isnt off.

I have manifolds from a 70's sbc as well as cheapo-ebay headers that I'll be using, just havnt installed them. Open headers is just asking for a ticket :)
