I can't make up my mind!!

Ok guys I have some thinking to do. I love my 88 camaro with T-TOPs and my brother just told me that he will be selling his 91 Z28 5 speed with NO t-tops.....he is offering it to me for around $5000.....it has the 305 TPI with aftermarket cam, runners, headers, gears and so on....it pulls a 14.3 on street tires...now I don't know what to do! I want a 350 in my car but I don't want to spend all that much..and If I can get around $2800 for my car then I will be spending just of $2000 for my bro's car...should I buy his car or go for a fresh motor? I can't decide!

i would go with the 350, i dont think it is worth it to sell one 305 for another.
You can do a 350 swap for pretty cheap. 1700 for an L05 shipped, edelbrock intake is about 200, about 200 for the knock sensor, ESC module, cop car chip, and used LT1 cam, and a couple hundred for mics. parts like gaskets, bolts, etc., get some junk yard 55-65# injectors and you are ready for the swap.

stock L05 is around 210HP 300ft-lbs stock, im sure the LT1 cam would get it around 240HP (even more if you use a good intake and hook it up to a good exhaust). THere is a guy that has his L05 making 300HP at the crank with an LT1, intake, bigger TBI, full exhaust and a few other small mods. And that is on stock heads, cant remember if he ported them or not.

It sounds like a tough decision. You gotta love the looks of the '91 Z for sure, and no t-tops means a little better structual integrety.

I love my t-tops....his car is all black inside so it's a bit too dark for me. I would like to put the 91 spoiler on my car with the ss hood and I think that should make it look better then the 91 once i have my new coat of paint....someday...I think I might get the 300 hp tpi motor and drop that in..

the 300HP TPI motor is only a 350 L05 with a better cam and it costs $1955. THe stock L05 is only $1520 and you can get a used LT1 cam for about $50 shipped, or brand new LT4 cam for about 190.

Really? hmm I didn't know that... thanks for that info... so if I get the Lo5 and put the Lt4 cam in it I should be running close to 300 hp or just under?

or....if you dont have to worry about emissions you could get a ZZ4 cam for pretty cheap which will make more power than the LT1 cam, but would be harder to tune with TBI. But im planning on a L05, LT1 cam, edelbrock TBI intake bored out, 2" holley tbi, cop car chip, 65# injectors along with the mods in my sig and im hoping to make as much HP as a stock LT1 which is about 285HP.
