Sounds like the old "Stage 2" cam...

He'll hate it, and will be replacing it soon.

I guess he'll find out when he puts it in. Until then, it's just that, a guess.

Everyone Ive talked to say its better to go aftermarket than double humps. They say by the time you get all the work done to make them a good head you have more in them than a decent set of aftermarket heads.

What caused all the pushrods to bend? Cam installed wrong?

Wrong springs, wrong rockers, heads not prepped properly, other general mechanical failure (where the mechanic failed to do something right)

That's mostly true about heads. Back in the old days, before CNC casting, there was no such thing as aftermarket street performance heads; the only ones there were were race-only, and cost mega$$$$. The only real option for a street build was to work up the best stock castings available which was double-humps. Nowadays there's all these other choices available; for what it would take to buy a set of those sought-after old castings, and do all the work required to make them competetive with modern aftermarket heads, you'll have as much or more in them as you would just buying new ones over the counter. It's all about economics.
