Oil coming up the dip stick tube

When I bought my car the kid told me the motor was just rebuilt. I could tell that he cut some corners. Anyways I replaced both pcv valves. The next day I noticed that the drivers side popped off. So I replaced the grommets. That worked for some time till I noticed that the dip stick had popped up and oil was comming out. I then replaced the pcv valves with breathers. After that I had no more problems, but I want to fix it the right way. My car is a mostly stock 92 Z28 350 tpi. However it originally came with a 305. The only thing I did was remove the smog pomp. Mostly because the A.I.R. system was fudged up anyways. I have tried searching through posts for the past several days to no avail. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Could be your problem, only meant to have one.
Air goes in one rocker cover and out through the valve on the other cover
.With 2 valves there is no way for air to get in

1 valve is needed, not 2...

Re: Oil coming up the dip stick tube

I just went through this with my car. The only PCV valve is on the driver's side. The passenger side may look like a PCV valve, but is actually just a hollow elbow and air flows into the valve cover there from where it taps off the front of the throttle body.

Make sure you get the correct PCV valve for your car too. Mine was the wrong valve and I figured it wouldn't matter. I was wrong. It caused oil to come out my dipstick tube too.

If this doesn't solve the problem, you may want to do a search for "oil, "dipstick" and "PCV." It could be something more serious like a leaking head gasket, leaking intake manifold, or severely worn rings.

Fitting on pass side cover is just a connector for the hose from the TB

For starters he primed the whole car with rattle can without even scuffing the old paint, and did a very crapy job of that with painting over all kinds of things. In the engine bay he installed battery terminals from the junk yard to fit a used top post that was setting around. Over tighten the bolts on the oil pan, and had the A.I.R pipes twisted shut (which still leaked). He installed a new motor and used the old bad motor mounts. Almost all of these problems have now been fixed. New paint is going to be the last thing because I'm not sure what Im going to do yet

Re: Oil coming up the dip stick tube

I had that very same problem, as it turns out the number 1 piston was busted and it had no oil ring oh hell it didnt have any rings I got lucky in this case it didnt put a deep score in the cyl wall so I power honed it put in a new piston and rod set up and off I went.
