New ignition switch in. now car wont crank
i got the new ignition switch in and though followed everything right with the accutator rod. and everything seems fine as far as turning key to on position and hearing the fuel pump all that turn on like its ready to be started.
but when goto turn the key i dont get no crank or turn over. just nothing
do i need play with accutator rod some more till get it in right position or what? i thought it was all good since atleast heard fuel pump all that turn on when turn key to on position
Car cranked fine before i switched out to the new ignition switch... any help please???

You are only getting RUN ; not START
Undo the adjuster screws on the switch and try moving it up the column further

that back screw closest to front of car. is the ignition switch suppose to slide back and forth on that screw since has that gap on the ignition switch where the screw goes. it looks like its suppose to but just wondering i didnt test this before i took old one off..
thanks for feed back will try see what you mean.
UPDATE**
now i got the accutator in wrong position bahh. it think it was in right position in first place.
il try take pics in morning after work.
though i dont think gonna show nothing new. but the old ignition switch is slightly different like a drilled hole in it further back on it to move it up like you mention.. hmmm

First, did you buy the correct ignition switch?
Second, what lead you to replace the original ignition switch if the car cranked fine? did it stop cranking?
Did you make sure the starter (or starter solenoid) is not the culprit before assuming the ignition switch went bad?

I got it all working just needed be moved back more. It fixed all my electrical issues. Was having major volt loss which made headlights dim an windows etc not work. Big way I knew was switch was cuz could wiggle key an get the power loss to turn on an off. So happy this worked. Thanks for hope

Re: New ignition switch in. now car wont crank
dont know nothin bout fire wall mine is on top steering column .
i held mine with my hand in place to see where to put it by seeing if car would crank in that position..
have to hold it tight because accutator rod from turning key pushes and pulls on it.

Re: New ignition switch in. now car wont crank
I was using the firewall as a reference of where the hole of the switch was at. will it crank with all the screws taken out of the switch to steering column?
