Beat by a MAXIMA!!!

Last night I was at our local street racing thing, and I wasn't doing to bad. I beat a stang and a few riced out civics, etc. But then I lined up with a Maixima. I figured it was all stock and they just threw a fart pipe on there. So I was thinking it would be no problem. So then when we went. I had him for about 1 second then he was gone. He ended up beating me by atleast 3 car lengths(I thought I was about to cry). I never did get a chance to talk to him about what he was running. But I just figured I would let you all know how it turned out.

After that I have made up my mind to get rid of the TBI and drop in an LT1.

Car: 94 Z28
Engine: LT1 w/ headers, catback, CAI, tune
Transmission: 4L60E
Axle/Gears: 3.23s
Well I think the newer ones come with like 255hp stock, around 230 or 240 hp for a few years before that. Wouldn't take too many mods to beat a low-perf 350. Coulda sprayed ya too...

Screw the LT1, just upgrade with better heads/cam/intake and a bigger tbi/carb if nessecary... What are you packing already?

[edit] Damnit, you stole all my ideas maroon91, lol

Car: 1990 Iroc Z Convertible
Engine: LB9
Transmission: 700R4
Don't feel to bad, these newer cars can pack a mean punch. Currently although I haven't dynoed it yet my famuily hauler is probably in the range of 255-265hp with the mods I've done(smaller supercharger pulley and gutted airbox with a K&N),my IROC has 210hp from the factory. No doubt in my mind that my LSS would beat the IROC. Alot of minivans have more hp than my camaro does, now torque is a different matter. Hey, but my IROC vert is still a blast to drive.

A well driven manual trans late model Maxima is good for mid-high 14's...

I watched a brand new maxima run a best of 15.10 today, and ran like 5 times. Not counting the time he was about mid track and his hood flew up do to the fact he had hood pins and nothing else holding the hood down. Ya he forgot to put the hood pins in... By the way, you say 350TBI in 88??? How is that? I thought 88 was the first year that all Iroc's were TPI? Along with them dropping the Z-28 option. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Why do you have TBI on a 350? If it's stock, that's a 305. Just wondering, either way, they're making those non sports cars faster and faster these days

That's true for the 350s, but there were '89 IROC 305 TBIs unfortunately.
