1/4 mile help

Ok so the Car went 14.197 @ 97.25 MPH...2.035 60'...9.151 in the 1/8th @ 76.64 MPH.....I know The car was leaning out in the big end...I have a set of Edelbrock Big tube runners for it, and am thinking of pumping up the FP....The car weighed in at 3650 pounds with me in it...Any thoughts on how to hit 13.99???? Car has headers, and dual cat exhaust (minus cats) no pollution stuff..Shift kit, and was running good tires....I thought for sure it would hit 13's with no problem..I even took a helmet...Thanks for any advice....Tom

Re: 1/4 mile help

I guessing you raced it in TX and I'm sure track temps were hot. It would probably run 13's in cooler temps. Looks like you had plenty of traction, just need more power. 1.6rr's would really help.

It was cool last night...I do have a set of 1.6 rolllers, and the big tubes, do you think that would do the trick if we also fool with the FP, it is around 70 now I think..Thanks for answering me..I almost cried when I saw 14's...On three runs the car was very consistent....Might even drop a couple of pounds im the back tire, i was not getting a full patch.....Also think some smaller tires up front might help...........THANKS

Re: 1/4 mile help

I bet if you kept it as is, and run it more, you could get the 60 ft down a tenth or two, and you would get your 13.9. A set of DR wouldn't hurt, nor would skinnies up front. Depends on where you want to put your money.

My first time at the track I ran low 14's all night, with 1 random 13.7 run. That is with Heads, Cam, Intake and all supporting mods. with 2.2's all night. I kept going to the track, and same setup... I eventually ran a 13.1 with a 1.8. With NOTHING changed. The 13.1 was a few weeks before I found 3 broken pistons. I was itching for high 12's with the setup really bad too. Now with the bigger cam, I am looking for mid 12's.

Re: 1/4 mile help

once again thanks, and congrats on the 13....

ran it on mickey thompson drag radials 275 50 15's on 10 inch centerlines.11 inches of tread....gonna slap my msd on it, the the edelbrock tubes, the 1.6's and play around with the FP, and timing....3.23 posi gear.....want skinnys up front really bad, but do not have any, altho i have 2 10 inch centerlines, i would trade for some narrower rims.....i think it was putting out about 263 hp, need 293 to hit 101 mph......Guestimate..... ...think i have a chance with those parts added???

Re: 1/4 mile help

Maybe try going to a 3.73 gear. that will put you in the 13s for sure

Thanks much, think 3.73's might be a little steep for the TPI....Might look into 3.42's................Anyone else want to chime in?????

Re: 1/4 mile help

How many miles on the car / rearend? If high miles, I would rebuild the rear and add 3.73's. If low miles, just keep the rear stock.
