slp runners

i had them on my car with a stock hogged out base and a cam w/ 230 @ .050, 52mm TB and it ran pretty good i had good low end response(2800 non lock-up conv.) and plenty of mid range. i just sold my runners along with and edelbrock base to a buddy of mine and his went slower! his cam has less lift and duration also so that could be the problemo....?

i call them the "Saga of Lost Performance" runners i went slower with them on my car. the bad part is that i sold the stock runners. before i found out that i lost power and went slower.

I used the SLP runners for 8 years on both 350's & a 383 with good success. When I changed to the SuperRam my gains were only .27 secs & about 350 usable rpm. So I'd have to say that the SLP runners worked well for me. I know many others who have been happy with them, but I also know a few who feel like Greg.

I used to have SLP runners and they weren't bad. I think that most of the folks that put them on have a basically stock engine. I really think you need at least a cam and better with heads also

I recently put them on my car, and I am very pleased with the top end pick-up. But, my car isnt exactly stock either.

I have to agree with Hank. I first used them in 1989 as part of an SLP package. Runners, Tri-headers, 214/224 cam, torque converter, and SLP prepped aluminum heads (Brodix castings). I didn't use their exhaust, or cold air package, but right out of the box, the thing ran 13.06 @ 107.91. Not a bad time for a 350 TPI back then.

I've never ran a 1/4 track because the nearest one is almost three hours away. I do have access to an 1/8 mile track and my best time was a 9.608 @ 72.2 before the ported plenum, runners, and custom cold air induction. Havent had a chance to run it since, hopefully drop a tenth or two at the most. Still, not too shabby for an automatic 700R4 with 180,000 miles on it!

well they are not all bad i just tuned my car some more i had a little too much timing in it. To tell the truth before the runners my car would give up @4500 rpm now it swings all the way to 5000. it gave me 500 more rpms I keep finding more power in the car the more i tune it. now it feels like the power begins off idol and pulls pretty good till i shift at 5300. The runners shure do help the 90 to 120 mph blasts down the highway.
