Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
Now don't get started in this thread. Just to be clear I am a straight American Muscle Guy. Anything but that low bad *** rumble of an amarican muscle car can kiss my ***. Really whats so great if your car sounds like a weed whacker going down the road. Or that high pitch whine of the european supercars. Oh well to each his own. Anyway I was cruizin the internet and googled 1986 Camaro Body Kits. And I found one that really doesn't look that bad. The completed one thats blue looks pretty decent. Not that I don't love the 3rd gen body style anyways but it does look nice. Not so sure about the black one though. The grill looks to tuner style to me. But thats just my opinion

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
Very True but as a custom car guy I also like to see someone do something defferent. Now if someone here does an all out body mod like sectrioning part of the car like lowering the roofline and does it correct it might look nice. I am just looking/brousing to see what some people have done to make there ride stand out body wise. Other than a really cool paint job.

Sorry but, in my opinion, making your F-Body look like a Tuner is not cool... Tuner's should be trying to make their cars look like F-Bodies
No disrespect meant... just my 2 cents.

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
I didn't say that, as stated above I think the evo kit looks like a tuner and I hate it. I hate Tuners as quoted above why would anybody like driving something down the road that sounds like a weed wacker and has about the same amount of power as one too. And sectioning part of the car like lowering the roof or sectioning about 2 inches from the center line of the car is not tuner. You see that all the time on custom cars from the 1950's. So if you think thats tuner than something is wrong with you. A tuner is a 4 banger with a body kit on it, paint job, "tunned motor" , rims and tinted windows. I am a pure American Muscle Car Guy. I will never own a japenese car period.
What I am talking about is Something Like what Chip Foose did to this 69 Camaro RS. If you think This is tuner you are more than stupid.

Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh, but man they totally dont work..
GM did the best job. Leave the 'spend my cash on plastic body panels' stuff to the rice boys.
Anyone considering that stuff should buy some heads or something instead.

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
You know, your definition of "good looking" must differ greatly from mine, becuase those body kits are hideous. To me there's nothing even original about them. They look just like the majority of ***** body kits. Not to mention the lines DO NOT flow at all with the car. But you do have the right to your own opinion and I won't take that away.

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
No I was just looking around online to see what there was and the blue one was the best looking one I could find. I don't like it very much but its not like all the other ones that look like they are for a tuner car. But yeah I could put a bunch of money into my engine but I can't drag race it on the strip because the door handles are shaved off. For saftey reasons the local drag strips in my area don't allow it. So I was looking into turning my car not just into a fast car but a show stopping car too. As stated in another thread I liked what Chip Foose did to the 69 Camaro. That had some major Custom Body Fabrication done to it. And It looked really good. Thats the kind of stuff I am really talking about. Changing roof lines, sectioning part of the car, Custom Hot rod.
This is a picture of a firebird but you get the idea. That car looks hot.

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
i dont like those kits at all.
best kit ever made was the Evoluzione Evo kit which i dont think they make anymore but it really was a whole body car kit that makes the car look more like a supercar/exotic than a thirdgen anymore

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
Bursting your bubble here. thats pure photoshop right there.
There are very few body kits out there I like on a thirdgen. 99.9% I hate. Actually there is one "body" kit i like. The Evo 1 and 2. Which completely hide the F-body underneath so it gets registered as a kit car in most cases.
GM's work is best, its seems nearly every kit out there tries to add flowing, curving lines to the thirdgen and that doens't work. Despite how well the profile flows a thirdgen has very hard body lines with sharp angles. I haven't seen a kit yet that looks right, or natural on these cars yet.

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
I agree with Bill on this one.
It really looks goofy when a boxy car like a third gen tries to have curves it just doesnt now look right.
For the most part people would considered F bodys as cheaper cars in terms of price as far as "sports" cars go. Anything really that is far from stock really makes the car look cheap.

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
I think this is the closest thing to a body kit that works. Though it only does so because its so much like a 4th gen its stupid.
Ignore the file names, someone thought it was a 4th gen concept, but its not. I just never changed the names after I downloaded the images.

Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
No idea, I found the pics on this forum ages ago. No idea who makes it, what its called, etc....I have no information.
Re: Found some nice looking Body Kits for a 3rd Gen
wow haha..... I own a mazda MX-6 in addition to my 91 Z28, so the whole your just a muscle kid/tuner kid is out the window. I like what looks good. Every "kit" i have seen for the third gens is rediculous. GM did a great job with the body design on these cars. I see why you would want to be "custom" but how custom is a pre made kit you just order and bolt on? Good find though i must say, i'm shocked some company actually made a kit for the third gens.

I like the wider fenders. I was looking for something like that a while back but the only things I found were way over the top.

The only aftermarket kit that I have remotely liked is that Japanese kit in another thread that noone knows how to order. The only reason I like it is because it's just a slightly altered version of the 91-92 kit.
