Custom Chips Inc review

I had been struggling with code 32 (EGR) on my 1991 5.7L Camaro Z28 1LE since I purchased the car 4 years ago.

I replaced the EGR valve (which was a PITA since I didn't have any experience with TPI plenum removal) and that seemed to help for about 6 months but then the SES light came on and to my displeasure it was code 32 again.

I had the car looked at by a local mechanic and he said the solenoid checked out fine. The mechanic performed a scheduled tune-up and the cleared the code from the ECU. I drove around SES light free for almost a year. A few weeks ago, the SES light came on again. Code 32 ...

I did some searching and came across Custom Chips Inc facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Custom-Chip...9489875293854/). I called Custom Chips Inc and left a message. My call was returned within 1 hour. I was able to order a custom chip (with the following modifications: No VATS, No EGR, Converter stall adjustment, and performance tune) right there on the phone for the very reasonable price of $76.

The chip took about a week to arrive, and the install was straight forward. The install required a moates adapter (purchased from moates), but that's standard for all aftermarket chips.

I've been driving around with this chip for a few weeks now. The SES light has stayed off. That's the main reason I wanted the chip. The added performance is a big bonus. The car has a lot more grunt down low, and the seat-of-the-pants feel is a lot better. It is regularly breaking the tires loose and there's also a lot more passing power on the highway.

I highly recommend Custom Chips Inc.

He's been trying to sneak in all of the Facebook groups lately.

Why would anyone try to use a vendor that has such known rate of issues/scams/whatnot is beyond me.

I always google before I buy! It does show how persistent he is, though. I guess that's commendable on some sort of level.

Re: Custom Chips Inc review

I just "ordered" a chip from Custom Chips Inc.... wish I would have come here first. I paid on the 31st of July via Western Union (That should have been my first tip off), I got the email notification that the money was picked up and gone within 45 minutes...

Here I am 2 weeks later with no chip, and I doubt I will ever see one. I asked 3 times for an update and its always "I will check" then, he promptly forgets who the hell you even are. No apologies nothing...

Someone needs to report him for mail fraud.

There were red flags and I just ignored them.... he didn't ask certain question that he needed to know... then when I remember he needed to know them, I messaged him with the info and he was like "I know" ....

Re: Custom Chips Inc review

I actually ordered from Custom Chips and I am happy with my chip, the car accelerates faster and runs smoother . It does what it says! Yes I had to wait 2 weeks for it and that part I was not happy about but the product is decent. I had a hard time finding anyone that still does these older TPI cars. Overall I do recommend them. Just my 2 cents

There are more than enough legit TPI mail tuners to negate the need to deal with a known scammer. Butt-dynos also mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.

www.scotthansen.net is legit. Anyone looking for TPI tuning should avoid people with bad reps.

Re: Custom Chips Inc review

Got one for my Camaro last year. Worked out pretty good. Feels faster and made more power than the aftermarket chip the PO had in there when I bought the car. I paid $76 shipped for it. It didnt come with instructions so I messaged him and he walked me through the install. It wasnt hard at all.

Leaning towards www.scotthansen.net.

Would like to get the EGR disabled, VATS disabled, and the inijector tables for Bosch D3s in.

Bonus- maybe he can do a Park-Neutral and WOT permissive output on an unused pin of the ECU for a nitrous setup. :-)

Re: Custom Chips Inc review

It's a shame people keep getting ripped off bye not receiving what they paid for.
Keeping this thread alive to keep people informed of oscars deception .
Not to bad mouth Scott Hansen but I have seen a few of his modified v6 memcal to work on v8. He is not jumping the cylinder select correctly this will cause slight running issues.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...ification.html
Im not sure he changes the offsets just flow rate.

Anybody who gets ripped off needs to report this guy.

John Wayne is at it still. Claims to have no bad reviews and threatened to sue me for defamation, lmao! I shut his *** down with the reviews from here. He deleted his link to his chips for sale right after, lol.

You should be able to click on it and read the comments for it, but it's too late now because OP deleted it. Yeah, he's still at it. He just sticks to small F body groups with 500 people or so in them, so less chance of being busted by someone like me. He went completely off the wall after I busted him and claimed I messaged his 13 year old daughter, saying I sent her sexual messages and pictures and was reporting me and calling cops and all this wild ****. I never seen somebody stoop so low over being busted as to drag his kid into it and make claims like that. I have screenshots, and I'm seriously considering suing him for defamation.

Re: Custom Chips Inc review

We bought one a year or so back for my wife's 89 C4 Corvette and it worked really well. had him delete code 32 and 9th injector. Sounds like you have a personal beef with the guy. It was packed well and came in a little less than a week? anyhow, I would use them again. Did what it said and car does perform a lot better.
