if I remember correctly, you have to get new ones from a TPI car.

Re: Carb to HSR

Thats what I thought. I'm trying to get all the parts together to complete the swap before the intake shows up.

Re: Carb to HSR

TV cable may have more slack so see if that can reach.
My 86 Trans Am that I converted was a manual so I didn't have a TV cable.
I am pretty sure the throttle cable was short by about 3-4"

750 Speed Demon VS, Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap for Vortec Heads. I bought the Stealth Ram Kit from Holley, so I have most of the parts.

Re: Carb to HSR

I'm going to hang on to the carbed induction set-up just in case this fuel injection thing proves to much for me.

Re: Carb to HSR

Lack of time and fitment problems have the project at a standstill. The throttle arm contacts the fuel rail. Factory tpi throttle cable is too short. Not sure how to plumb the fuel system to pass NHRA tech inspection, and so on. Hopefully as more time becomes available, I will sort this out and have it on the road by spring.

Re: Carb to HSR

ive never heard of the factory tpi cable being to short, as far as plumbing, as long as its either hard line or steel braid it wont be a big deal. il see what i can find out for you

Re: Carb to HSR

I'm I the same boat, I'm putting the finishing touches on a whole system of mods to my '92 Z28. It was completely factory stock when I started 2 1/2yrs ago!! Lol I have run into a number of fitment issues throughout, including the throttle cable.
Firstly, my HSR/Twin 58mm BBK TB setup has the early TPI throttle linkage on the TB, of course mine is a '92 so it had a different linkage on the stock TB (like a twist throttle on a bike). I needed a throttle cable from an '87 model TPI iirc with an eyelet to fit over the pin on the TB linkage and clip. I picked up one at the local APS.....it's just barely too short, it fits but it's extremely tight and basically unusable. I can't verify this cuz I didn't measure the factory setup but I think because I put solid steel Moroso motor mounts on it, that now the engine sits a little higher than stock. Either way, the cable is too short and I need to find a substitute that will work without modifications.

Is Lokar the only one out there? Does it fit the firewall opening and pedal like stock or is it a universal requiring further mods or bracketry to work?
