This was my first car!!!! ouch it hurts
This was my first car!!!! ouch it hurts
I found a pic of my first car, it was a 1988 iroc-z camaro 5.7
total cost 3,000 dollars, i only had to pay 500 bucks...
i had it for about 5 months on the road then wrecked it..
thats about a 55 mile per hour hit into the back of a van going about 25 - 30 mph
i am still parting it out and have made over 1,500 bucks on it...
like about three months later i got my 1988 formula 350 and believe it or not someone hit me and wrecked that after about 4 months on the road...
now i have my fastest and best thirdgen yet, it has been way over 6 months and still going strong
well just wanted to share my picture with everyone!! later

That pics actually suggests that the driver would have survived. Despite the damage to the front end take a look at the windshield. Its in perfect shape. If MD had not been wearing a seat belt the wind shield would've been cracked, or gone, and MD would be too.
Even though we know that MD did make it out alive.

this is what happens when you do 140+ and spin out: my bro bought this car from the guy who wrecked it. Yes he survived! G0D sure was looking out for this man. We yanked the 350 TPI and put it in his 84 Sport Coupe. Real sleeper!

The car had the 16 inch IROC rims on it during the crash. the wheels you see on there now was to aid in transporting the car around. The IROC wheels were taken off before the pictures and they were put on my brothers Camaro Sport Coupe. The very same car we put the TPI 350 in.
He was flying down the road....slight mist of rain and came up over a small hill in the road. Caught some air and lost control.

I still have them too! We did this swap in the summer of 2000. I can't believe its been that long ago.
Anyway, my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) lived 2.5 hours north of us and we went to visit one weekend. Dan, my twin bro, noticed the wrecked IROC sitting on a guys propert along with many other beat up cars. (not an uncommon sight in that town.
) We stopped one day and asked the owner if he would part the wheels out. He said no he wanted to get rid of the whole car. We looked at it and said to ourselves, who would want that heap?!We asked about the car then and wanted to know what was in it. He said it after he wrecked it his son drove it back up to his house! So he knew it was still running. It is a 350 TPI with automatic. He wanted 1500 for it all.
We left him after hearing his price. Dan and I discussed the possibility with this car. All the parts are there for a motor swap! We wouldn't have to scavenge for parts. We always wanted to work on a project like that and especially have a 350 too.
We went back and offered $1100 for it. (thats all my bro could afford at the time) The owner refused so we left again. About three months later we drove by again and Dan offered cash for the wheels, like he initially wanted. The guy said he was trying to get a hold of us and he accepted our bid. So Dan and I got the money together and purchased the car.
The rest, as they say, is history.

Its my bros car and he doesn't race it. Actually the car is in storage now. He got married last december and he lives in an apartment. He daily drives an s10 now. He couldn't afford the gas money and insurance at the moment. So hes storing it to work on it again later.
I don't know what the quarter times are. Im sure its around what stock would be. We haven't done anything to the motor or tranny. Just a plan jane 350 tpi. It is a screamer though. I wish I had that set up in my firebird.
Here are a few before and after pictures! You wont believe your eyes!
Theres a bunch so hang on tight.

These doors came off of a 92 Firebird. Yep bolted right on and we even swapped out the bird door panels with his stock camaro panels. Everything lined right up.

Back from the paint shop and put back together. The paint job was nice and shiney but you can tell its not the best quality paint up close. It is now showing signs of wear and tear. But black is beautiful!

here's the Sport Coupe burning rubber with the new 350 in place. I snapped the pic before he really got it rolling. First attempt at capturing a burnout. Little trigger happy.
Not bad for a $350 car huh?
