Need some adivce!!!
Since someone had hit my car i have the money to fix it, however, i dont want a new looking door. So i have decided when the temps get warmer i am going to get new black paint.
I am wondering should i leave off the decals for good?
Also would a ram air 1 hood be a good idea to get?
http://www.thirdgenresource.com/inc/pdetail?v=1&pid=461
And finally to top the exterior off i was thinking the slp firehawk rims?
http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...TNUMBER=80035A
questions, concerns, or comments please!
also if someone is bored could they use the pics and do some photo shopping, that would help alot.

The hoods look out of place and tacky on a third gen. I like the Formula decals, not to garish, but the message gets across. I could go either way on the Firehawk wheels. IMO, if you go with a RA hood, you might as well dig up one of those old Testarossa body kits.

I would buy the rims, leave the decals off, and lower it instead of getting the ram air hood.

i'd go for the rims...although $1800 WOW.
I would get the hood because it looks great in my opinion and I wouldn't lower it because you know around here in IL and IN the roads suck and one pothole might take out your front end.
but nice car....were you at denny's last memorial day, I'm not sure if you met me or not....I had to drive that black S10 since my camaro was acting up.

i think the grey accents will go well with my black car...
i think 1,800 bucks is a great deal!! new tires already mounted and balanced ready to be installed right when i get them. i dont know if chrome valve stems would be an option, but i will look into it.
i would leave the decals off for awhile after the new paint, to see how it looks.
i will lower it, how does the pro-kit sound?
i want the hood kinda because it looks differnt, not many people around Maryland that i have seen has the ram air 1 hood on a formula, let alone a firebird.
i want to get this all done before the Nationals!
also i was thinking about tint? any suggestions on that.
i am wondering if i should wait longer, and see if any prices will go down.

The Ram Air I hood does look good on a third gen. The Ram Air II does not in my opinion. I could go either way on the Firehark rims as I really like the black crosslace wheels. As far as lowering. I disagree completely with everyone else. I think my TA is to low sometimes. It's hard to get it into certain types of parking lots. Although I have the GFX and you don't so that makes a clearance difference. But if you are going to lower it I would say get the GFX for it. Lowering is retarded unless your looking for an increase in aerodynamics. In which case the GFX are just what the doctor ordered. They also don't wiegh that much. I also think the car wouldn't look right at all lowered without GFX.
BTW if you get the Firehawk rims I might be interested in obtaining your black crosslace wheels and tires. For the right price.

not selling my factory rims!! at all
also i am keeping my hood and anything else i mod, so i could put it back to original if need be.
i think if i get 1 inch bigger rims and lower it one inch it would be about the same height off the ground with less wheel gap.
i dont really want ground effects because i want it still to look like a formula.

Hey how about you send me the 2 grand, I buy the rims, put 'em on my car and take pics so you can see how it would look on your car??
I have 5% in the back and 15% on the sides and it looks awesome. And I can still see outside even at night. And I agree with devianb those rims on your car would make it look 10x more aggressive. I never liked the GTA crosslace wheels. I don't think they go well with these cars. The crosslace design kinda reminds me of Buicks or Lincolns,,,non-sporty cars.
As far as the hood,,,yeah it makes it look unique,,,but I'm too in love with the factory design of the Formulas. I don't think I'd wanna put two big nostrils there even if it was an effective Ram Air setup.

well the ram air 1 doesnt really have the big nostrils!
anyway if i could buy the formula hood in fiberglass i would!!
i think the factory rims on my car look good, but they need to much work to make perfect, so when i fell in love with firehawk rims i want those now...

I love the Formula hood and agree about the rims and tint. You said something about 1 inch bigger rims and lowering it 1 inch to equal it out. It depends on tire height, not rim size. Usally when you go bigger with the rims you go with a lower profile tire to keep the diameter the same. Also if you lower it don't forget you will need an adjustable pan hard rod to center the rear end.
Your car is sharp and you'll have to post a pic when it's done.

o yeah thats the next phase, some suspension goodies...
i was planning on 275/40/17 tires..
http://www.thirdgenresource.com/inc/...l?v=1&pid=1186
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 Tires (Set of 4)
alot cheaper than the BFGoodrich G-Force KDW Tires (Set of 4)
have to see if i can get the combo mounted and balanced at Thirdgen Resource with some chrome valve stems and caps.
should look great!

I did not do the tint myself, I took it to a place someone on here worked at. Got all of it done for $80, but it was not worth the trouble. And its not the best job either, so it'll probably be redone next summer.

Ok, so I'm biased..but..get the wheels and tires. I paid significantly more than that for mine with tires, mounted and balanced.
I love what the Eibach pro-kit did for my car, and think you will too.
Once that's done start with the performance, intake, headers, exhaust, cai and suspension. If you need to put a taller hood on, then go for it, but not until you need it.
Thats a sharp looking car. You've got good ideas, run with them.

I also like the look of your car. I would only get the Firehawk wheels because they would help the car handle better, its a toss up between which looks better. I like the formula hoods. Maybe while doing the springs get some shocks/struts too, a good set.

If it was me I wouldn't need to ask about my car. I already know I don't like the hood, I love the rims, and I wouldn't lower it cuz it's already low enough for me.

Leave the exterior alone and do mechanical mods. I like the look of your car the way it is, but if you must change the look, I might lower it an inch and MAYBE do the wheels. I wouldn't have the hood if you gave it to me. Just my .02...

I also agree with tinting the windows. Personally, I think your car looks perfect as is. The tinted windows will just make your car look even better - if thats possible.
