well my opinion, not that it matters, is as follows. The ram air hoods only look good on the birds because it flows more with the body lines. I do really like the big block hood and when I get my car repainted Im getting either that one or a cowl for it. I mean just look at the hood it looks mean as hell if you ask me

Jocww, that is my car. It is actually Dodge Blue from a 1998 pickup and the silver is from a viper of the same year, nothing special, but the blue does have some blue sparkle added to it also, you just cannot tell because the pic is not that good and is dark.

Since its on a Camaro, I'd go with the big block, even though I don't really like either of them all that much.

Are you talking about My SS hood on my 91 Z28..or the Big Block hood on my brothers 87 Z28? The SS hood comes functional.....just no air box. It's cutout and comes with a screen. On my brothers Big Block hood....we painted the front part with satin black spray paint and added a screen to make it look functional...but..it's not functional.

Where's the "Other" option? The ASCD SS hood is getting a little trendy, but I think it's pretty slick. The Ram Air is sleek and agressive but it's a Firebird thing, lastly the Big Block hood is a cool nostalgic Camaro thing that's unique, but looks dated (and like a rocket launcher). Just my $0.02, I guess you can't lose really, they're all unique. Besides, what do we know, what do you like?
It'd help if we had pics of the car too to see what kind of "theme" you've got goin' on...

I was referring to the big block hood. You don't happen to have a picture of the bottom, and a close up of where the cutout would be on the big block hood would you?

My SS hood...with the original screen...and I added a sheet of expanded aluminum to accent the hood a bit. It will look better when I paint the hood. I think my brother want's to add a sheet of expanded aluminum on his Big Block hood too...I'm going to make another sheet for my SS hood....this one is a lil bent up...but..you get the idea....
84customZ28- Thanks those are great pics. The SS hood looks sharp on that car. I have a question about the the bottom of the big block hood. Is the under side of the hood just a mold of the top, or is it covered in some way? I am curious about making it functional.

...and I don't know of anyone who has done it. It wouldn't hurt to maybe line the inside of it...where it has been cut with a layer of fiberglass...to reinforce it....just a thought.. Originally posted by 84customZ28
It's molded the same way...it is very possible to make it a functional hood...I was going to cut it out on my brothers car...but...I just wasn't sure if it would crack around the edges...since it was cut into...??
