Opinions on paint idea please.
Ok, I'm prepping the car for paint right now (body work first). And I was thinking of keeping it black, and adding Gold Heritage Stripes.. The I started to think about it... and this idea came to mind. Here is a picture I did up in photoshop. Thoughts .. what would be better? Heritage stripes. or something totally different.. my car doesn't really have much in the way of aftermarket mods.. so I'm not sure if it would fit the theme..

i don't like it.
i think if the spikes (the black ones) were kinda.. droopy.. and curved a bit at the ends, it might be cool
or i could be wrong alltogether.

in my opinion if you go all black with teh gold heritage stripes and maybe get some gold GtAs down the road it will look 1 million times better, and i am by no means a "Stock ****" i just dont think that paint scheme fits your car,

I think I'll stay away from a total drastic color change for now.. I don't like the idea of being black under the hood.. and yellow every where else.. I may do the heritage stripes still.. since everything else I'm pretty much doing was a option at sometime in the history of the thirdgen.. Thats basically I guess what I'm doing.. bits of parts I like from the thirdgen..
plenty of factory cars in the 90's had black engine bays with different color bodies. i say paint it the brightest yellow you can get...something like millenium vette yellow, throw a green pearl over it ( i know it sounds funny) and call it a day with your black engine bay. accent the engine itself with some yellow (nothing tacky) and you would easily have a show winner.
the paintjob above is straight out of the 80's for sure....

here is how the yellow i'm describing would look like......absolutely beautiful if someone did it on a thirdgen and it would not only be easy to paint but an inexpensive way to make your car a show stopper. pictures just cannot do a candy/pearl job justice. beyond going candy you will not find a brighter, sharper shade of yellow in person.

I've seen that yellow in person a bunch of times...its kick ***. I've seen it at an auto show and I've seen three different yellow Murcielagos on the street and I was just yesterday driving next to a red one for a few blocks and I also saw a black Gallardo the other week. If anyone is wondering I live in LA, so this kind of thing is an everday spectacle. But yeah a yellow with a pearl would look extremely nice....so that's a yellow with a green pearl? I thought it was yellow with white pearl. Either way it woul look kick ***. I also defintely agree that paintjob is straight from the 80's, granted so are our cars, but still =)

Not sure if yellow goes with my interior though.... Medium Beechwood... and i do not plan on changing that either. what about my door decals.. those would be a real PITA to mask without damaging them..I don't want to loose those either..

I'm a fan of the original 86-87 yellow Irocs. Kinda like a faded yellow.
...and I love the black w/gold stripes idea. What about black w/white heritage stripes? ...or gunmetal stripes?

actually in another post about heritage stripes Black with white stripes = Skunk .. :sillylol: I also thought about a gunmetal color.. or even a black pearl stripes.. But I did find a cool BASF color to use Code "MY052.20" if anyone wants to look it up if you have access to the BASF computer. I think I'll stick with black with Heritage stripes..
