17 inch GTA wheels

Found a thread on gtasourcepage.com that alot of you might have an interest in. If this is legit, Hawk's Thirdgen is considering having 17" GTA wheels produced (similar to the larger IROCs available). If you're interested - contribute to this thread:

http://www.gtasourcepage.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=47719

Also - anybody got any opinions or photoshops of what 17" GTAs would look/feel like on our cars?

17x9.5 would be a min

hope they make them in the same offset for ease of rotation.
1500.00 a set seems steep, but I guess thats the going rate for wheels.

I'd buy a set

well, if i do the math, my 15" gta's with new $500 Goodyear's,
sell the set for $600, take the 17" GTA's witch are 1,500 subtract $600 from that,
thats 900 bucks....
not bad, if they came with tires

$1500 for a set of repo GTA wheels It's a good idea until you see the price. How much do the repo Iroc wheels go for?

If they did all the factory colors, i'd buy a set of charcoal ones for the Formula and a set of black ones for the Iroc

As long as the factory style center cap was useable and the same choice of colors (black, silver, gold, red, white, charcoal) was available I'd buy a set for my Formula as well. I'd want 17x9 at all four corners.

If i'm not mistaken they were the ones with a few sets of Firehawk wheels recently and ripping people @ 1400 or 1500 a set with no tires, sounds like they're trying to rip more people

Since they are a sponsor here, and we have way more members, I'm surprised it wasn't posted here. Anyway, I would have to consider selling my chrome Ronals to buy a set of these if they were made available.

I hope u are not toying with me, 17" GTAs are the rims I have always wished I had. I wish someone would repro them, I mean they did for iroc rims, why not GTAs. Ill gladly shell out some dinero to get my hands on them, lol even If I can't afford them.

And Oh yeah, I got plenty of photoshops with 17" GTA rims on our cars.

Photoshop of Boon's car with what appear to be more like 18s or 19s than 17s.

I'm in the same boat.

17x9 or 9.5" with the inside dia for maximum brake clearance.

Hawks said if they repro'd them that they would be billet aluminum. Billet aluminum ain't all that cheap. $1,500 is a good price for something like that. Id gladly pay it. And repro irocs are not billet aluminum.

Now if we could get some 88-90 IROC rims in 17x9.5 that would be sweet.

He said "billet" in the description. If they are indeed billet rims for $1,500, then they are a steal. I would like 17x9.5's please!

Depending how these look, there may be another set of RONAL's for sale in the future....

I'd rather see a lower priced forged rim, then he could sell more which would lower the cost some more.

If this is genuine - which I doubt - then I'd definitely buy a set as long as they were wider than stock. Preferably 9 or 9.5 inches.

Has anyone called Hawks to ask them about this?

Just for a point of comparison, I got a quote a while back for 17-inch modular wheeks that look like the GTAs for about $2000.
They were the CXN wheel at www.usacomp.com

Guys,
Just for your info this is being looked into.. If this is going to happen most likely there will be deposits needed. The GTA wheels unfortunatly are not as simple as you might think to reproduce and I agree with all of you if this wheel is done lets make sure that it's done right . Wheel companys want a rather large deposit down in order to proceed with something like this. So if the demand ( AKA real money not BS) is there I am sure we can make this happen.. I'll keep you all posted.....

I would possibly consider it. I'd want 17x9.5 if so, but somehow I just don't see this wheel ever being made. ie. theres demand, but theres not enough people that would shell out $1800 for the production costs to be worthwhile.

Also, can anyone photoshop what they'd look like? And I mean not also lowering the car, just straight wheel to wheel.

I think 1500 would be about the most I would spend on factory looking wheels. For 1500 I would order a set right now for my TTA. I would like to see 17x8 and 17x9.5 combos done and possibly different offsets for 4th gen rears....

Don't see many people putting down deposits on something that is unseen though.....

This is something I have been looking for, I called around EVERYWHERE about the old BBS RZ wheels, they looked as close as you can get, but no longer in production. They have aftermarket Iroc rims, it's about time a GTA rim became available. I'dd buy a set for sure, but they'dd have to be good quality, and fit perfectly, read no spacers and such, and be at least 17x9, to put 275 40's all around. Let this happen.

As long as they will allow me to run 13" brakes in the front, I'll own a set. It would be so cool if they used a stock GTA center cap, had the factory colors and were 17X9 with the same offset front & rear, but that's not all necessary for me to scoop some up. I really hope they consider a forged set, so that they look dead on like the factory ones, just bigger.

I just hope they can produce them without the edge where the center section meets the rim that is preventing me from upgrading my C4 brakes to Ed Miller's 13" HD kit.

Wow I would be in the boat for some, but I would like to see the aluminium part availible in chrome also. But unfortantly I cant afford them till probably late next summer, and I just put new rubber on a set of 16'inch GTA's The place in japan that makes some very similar to the gta are 1500 a set so it is a good price. But of course like everything thirdgen this if it does happen will be years from now.

I had thought about contacting a few places that do one off wheels and finding out what it would cost if I did the workup in autocad and sent it to them to get cut. I would want 17X8's for the front and 17x9's in the rear though.

Has anyone contacted the company that makes the big Iroc wheels? I'd be willing to bet they would be a bit cheaper. I have yet to see a whole bunch of the 17 (or bigger) Irocs out there, and as long as they went with the factory front offset GNX people (who buy the crap out of 16" GTA wheels) and 2wd S10 folks couuld get on board. I'd say if there is enough market for "3rdGen ZR-1 Style" wheels from SLP, there would be more than enough demand for these. I can't see why they would cost so much to make.

I am interested, but in 18's - in black of course. Same offset and size front and rear so we can actually rotate them. I'm happy with the 8" wide rim.

Well I got the reply from Performance Wheel Outlet and basically they said to go pound sand. Ok not quite, but they said that they have no intention of building a GTA type wheel, so that leaves us at the mercy of Hawks and whomever is going to build their wheel.

Guys:- I spoke to Hawks again and they said they have had very little interest thus far in this project.

I suggest if any of you are serious about wanting a company to produce these rims that you contact Hawks ASAP via email or telephone and pledge your support to the idea.

Otherwise, this one is going to die off pretty soon.

Well, yet again people are posting about wanting a product like this. See the below linked thread:-

My new 17x9.5 GTA's have arrived!
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...93#post2063693

As I already said above, if any of you are serious about wanting a company to produce these rims then contact Hawks ASAP via email or telephone and pledge your support to the idea. Don't just sit around hoping others will do all the work for you.
