Thinking about buying this...opinions?
87 Chev Camaro Z-28 , 350 auto, t-roof, new brakes, rotors & bearings, exhaust, DynoMax headers, batt, tires, tint, blue w/ white pinstripes, $3500 obo,
Called him and got this:
Tiny bit of rust on top of the windsheild and little spot on the 1/4 pannel. Engine has a slight tick but the power is there.
If i did get it, I would probably end up rebuilding the engine. It was an orignal 305 car but he replaced it with a 350.
I junked my 383 v6-v8 swap because it was gonna end up costing wayyy to much. Now I have a spare transmission lol.
My plan is for this to be my summer Camaro and have the 83 as a winter car. A winter car with t tops
Just slap on some winter tires and off I go.
Not the best pic but here she is

Winter with an 8 is just plain dumb. I guess the 6 would be ok though with winter tires and some snows. The slight tick could just be the headers leaking
Is that $3500 certified plus e tested?

3500 seems like a waste of money if you are gonna rebuild it anyway. just get a shell and you got the tranny and buy a junk engine and then you got like 2500 left for alll of that

I don't know an iron duke and some snow tires wouldn't do so bad.

How is the interior? Tops leaking? For $3500 I would expect a car in very good condition. Tiny spots of rust have a funny way of turning out to be large, you can't always see how far the rusts goes.

pfft t-tops are more trouble then their worth IMO, Case in point, My grandpa had a 1994 Z with t's Once he broke the Factory seal, every time it rained, His leaked, No matter what he did to try and stop it, he even tryed new weather stripping.

spray some wd 4o on the seals before you put the top back on, big difference., dust and dirt gets between the glass and rubber and screws with the seal.

UPDATE:
So I went again because the owner was there this time. Younger guy with a beer in hand. We were talking about it and he showed me the engine and the interior (but he forgot his keys). I offered 3000 because it had a broken windshield and He said when I bring my dad tommorow we will talk about that. So Im goin tommorow to test drive it and see how she runs. I love the look of this car, needs some TLC but its just looks so cool.
Heres the funny part: As we were leaving, he waves us down and comes with a bag in his han and asks "Do any of you smoke" and shows a zip lock bag of weed. We were just like.....umm no....
Im not sure which way to take that in terms of buying the car, Guess I just gotta be careful. And yes it is registered currently and till 2006...

. "Dou you smoke"... oh my ***. You'd better hope this isn't some sort of sting operation.
A bit of advice: try and wait till he's stoned to start negotiating a price.
