Cheesy or a good idea?
Well I did some searching and really didn't find any one that has done this before (although I am sure it has) My resevoir bottles are UGLY and I found a couple in better shape than mine were (still ugly though) I read that I could get new ones so until I do, I dressed them up a bit. What do you think?

I think it looks really cheesy, but you said its temporary. I know someone is going to post without reading and yell at you and tell you to buy new ones.
I think someone painted them with that color changing paint before, maybe it was 86Fyrbird (now sonar_un's car). I could be wrong though.

Ya, the chrome looks kinda cheesy. I had an idea though. What about painting them all black but leaving a strip of masking tape going up to see the water level? Of course this would probably only work on a black car, but w/e. Wish their was a way to make them clear again...

Yea i think it looks cheesey as well. I would do black. I was thinking of doing it to my car and leave a stripe going up the back so i could still see how much was in it.

i think it's kinda cheesy, but if you're redoing yours for the time being it's fine lol

TO be totally honest, I don't like it.
THAT said, as a temperary fix, I think it's quite a bit better than the gunked up nasty looking ones...
I may even take up that black idea later this month or 3..

Hawks third gen has new ones....18.00 bucks for the coolant tank and 20.00 bucks for the washer tank. I just got mine in the mail yesterday. Then you aren't wasting your time painting them.

Cheesy. New ones are under 20 bucks. Why screw around?
While doing the "CrazyHawaiian Ghetto Fabulous Engine Beautification" mods I painted my bottles black. You can kinda get creative with it, where the lines are to check water level I went very light with the coat of paint so you can still see through, but darker on all other parts of the bottle. When all is said and done you can still see the water level up close but when looking at it from afar it looks all black. New bottles aren't that much, but for me it was more than usual because of shipping to Hawaii. And on top of that I didnt want bright white bottles in the engine bay since nothing else in my bay is white. I spent a total of $20 on black and aluminum paint and materials and I was able to do almost everything in the engine bay, valve covers, overflow tanks, complete TPI intake. All thats left is the serpentine accessories and the engine bay itself. You'd be supprised what some time spent will accomplish as far as the appearance of the engine bay. Comparing my old 130K mile engine bay to this re-done one its a huge difference at little cost. I'll be posting pics when everything is done, gonna make a thread detailing everything I did. Some might consider it cheesy to re-do everything this way but I think if you do it right with tastefull colors then it comes out really good for really cheap.
