I would like to see that too, I like the hole in the side. Everything should bolt on, but you may have to drill some holes, not sure if the studs are the same

Do a search, there are people who have done it, its been covered b4. Redraif has them on her firebird, but it may not be how you want, hers are mounted lower than normal.

I tried this and didn't like it. The camaro ground effects don't come up the door as far as the trans am ground effects do. I think it would look good on a 91-92 firebird though.

i dont like the look too much

this is the first time i have sene pics of camaro gfx on a bird

and i also think it would look evne worse on an 82 83 84 bird

just imho

and yeah it would probably look best on a 91 92 than any other years since they already have so much other bulky extra plastic junk parts all over them anyways

whats a few more to make them look like a big spaceship

lol

i dont like bulky plastic much as you can tell

thats why i like the 82 83 84's so much, as most of them have the least amount of plastic baggage crap stuck to them than any others, and just have two little pieces of GFX and thats it GFx is jut a PITa always gotta worry about it getitng damaged, and it always gets in the way and stuff, hum

the 82 83 84 have the real basic to the point sleekness, beautiful

each has their own though

good luck

actually i think they would match 82-84 the best. I think Zepher is using 82-84 fender vents in the pic, dont know though. Redraif's red car uses 91-92 camaro side ground effects and 82-84 firebird trans am vents

I was using the 82-84 vents on the drivers side, I didn't have the pass side one on for some reason even though I had it.

The 91-92 Camaro gfx would look perfect with the 84 Trans Am nose, bumper, and fender gfx since they are the same height.

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

I know it's an old thread but...

I actually just finished installing and painting my gfx and have a pic of the 82-84 TA bumper and 91-92 camaro rocker ground effects combination AND all the same color as opposed to the gfx being a different color.
IMO the camaro gfx DO look best with the 82-84 front bumper and 82-84 TA fender gfx.

Still need to install the door pieces but need to align all the panels first.

Measure twice, drill once, and make sure you rust proof any holes!

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

is there any specific i should measure to. the reason why i ask is because i already took my old ground effects off, and when i held the new ones up the front bolt lined up with the hole, but the back bolt did not line up with the hole. and the top of the ground effect did not line up with the existing line on the door from the old ground effects.

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

Well, someone said that the 'Bird GFX sit higher up the door than the Camaro ones. Basically you're gonna eyeball it to how you want it. Stick the GFX up to the door, and see how it looks. Adjust, and when you find where you're happy, drill and install. Repeat on the other side. It'd be a good idea to have a reference point of some kind so you can mirror exact the sides. Good luck! I'd recommend filling any of the old GFX holes you don't use if you have a welder, if not, make sure to rust proof them!

I'm liking the way the vents on the Camaro side fx, match the notches for the 87-90 front fog light openings.

I need to trade my GTAs side fx for Camaro ones now!

Looks good , one suggestion though. I think it would look cleaner if you filled the spot were the Z28 RS emblem usually goes and sand it flush

Or, if you could find/make a WS6 emblem that fit, that would be cool, but ONLY if your car is a true WS6. Don't be like the *****s, and claim things you don't or never had.

Now I wanna sell/trade my extra side skirts, for some 91/92 Camaro pieces!

But Redraif's vents are molded in flush, not mounted like stock.

i just thought of something that might look cool to go were the z28 emblem went. have the pheonix in that general area. i know you would have to smooth out that area. then apply a sticker or something of that nature there. i think that might look cool.

I made this, but it faded to a pink color (was red) and the glue became cloudy.
Vinyl would have been better but I didn't know any vinyl people at the time.

I have a set of 91-92 Aero GFX that i was gonna use on my bird but decided against bec the holes were different in opposition to what i was told. However they are nice pieces and i need to get them gone so if anyone is interested plz pm me.

I would have still done this mod but we had already primered the car and then we fig out the gfx werent going to fit the holes so I said forget it. They look good on our cars esp. 85-90 models

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

ok, im having a problem trying to get my the rockers on. the part that i think that is supposed to get screwed down underneath the door. that piece isnt going under the door to get bolted up. i wish i had a pic to show you what im talking about. but i dont. is there any way someone could basically give me a step by step procedure to doing this. things arent lining up. i know i have to drill some holes in my body to mount the end pieces. im just trying to figure out how to mounth the middle portion.

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

the piece that holds the Trans Am rocker gfx has to be trimmed down or taken off for those holes to line up. I trimmed mine with a die grinder. if you want I can snag a picture of what Im talking about.

tmic, so you cut up your old trans am to make a bracket and then used that to put the gfx on?

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

yeah, that bracket that holds your trans am ground effects on sticks out farther then the camaro one does, so you need to cut it back.

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

The 86 Cars had a 2 piece bracket (one welded to the body and the secondary one was bolted to that) and I just unbolted it.
My thoughts is that they just added the secondary part to the 84 style bracket and then in 87 or 88 went to a new bracket.

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

my car is an 88. so i take it either im gonna need to make a bracket of some sort from my old gfx to fit the new ones. or go to the junk yard, and find an older camaro with that bracket that your talking about?

zepher do you have a pic of how you installed the gfx to the door jam/sill area?

also i tried looking at your website. it seems like its not working.

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

I just looked for some pics and I don't have any.
The bracket you need does not come off since it is welded to the car, best bet is to do what the others have done and just cut yours down so that the rocker will fit.

My site doesn't have many images on the main pages.
here is the main directory with a ton of images.

Re: camaro sideskirts on a firebird

i think i might make a bracket out of my old gfx. or i might till next weekend to go to the junk yard, and see what vehicles will be there. ill have more money to do things then. hell i might pick up a 4th gen center console if i spot one. thats why i didnt go out there today because i have no money. and im not sure where the junk yard is at here in jacksonville.
