How to: euro diamond cut headlights
i finished it up earlier this afternoon, well the low beams anyway. i have everything done i just gotta put in the high beams. but ill try and explain how i did everything to better help you guys at home ive never done a writeup b4 so lmk if theres anything you dont understand or have questions about.
first of i cut out the backs of the metal housings that the actual lights sit in. heres a couple pics. i cut them pretty big b/c the problem is more the "city light" than the different plug on the headlights.

make sure you cut the bottoms out more than the tops b/c of that city light, that thing really gets in the way and you have to cut the metal housing for the lgiht to sit in it and not have the city light permitting the light to slip all the way into the housing. i cut them pretty big and it was still a tight fit see.

all you really need is the front part of that metal piece so dont worry about cutting it really close to the correct size, notize how i cut my hole very big so i did not have to keep going back and recutting? here is a pic showing the light fixture sitting in the metal housing nice and snug, this would not be the case if you didnt cut out enough metal material for the city light to fit in the large hole in the back of the metal housing.

then just put everything back together the way you took it out. i scratched up my headlight pockets a little trying to get the headlight adjustment screws in there. there should be two adjustments per headlight one on top and one on the side. the side ones are what scratched mine so just be really careful. also b4 you instill the metal trim piece that goes on top of the actual headlight put them in a vice and str8ten out the little tabs on the bottom, these are on the bottom of each trim piece and are kinda hard to get to b/c of the headlight pocket being right there so make them str8 so it is easier to screw them in and actually have them hold on. now this was alot more time consuming than i thought it would be but i also had the new paint to be careful with which caused me a good bit more time probably.

heres a comparison with them on. the new lights are on the left. MUCH brighter and the light is also more crisp and white. this is with the stock harness i have not installed the apc harness yet also these are the stock bulbs that came with the lights.

Ah just wondering. They look really good so far! Also, about what did these run you for a set? I have been looking at a HID conversion but they are a little pricey for my taste. These may be a good alternative depending on the price.

Looking good though, can't wait to see daytime shots.
yeah i bought a pair of those off ebay, but all i got was the head lamp. i think there's an adapter called an H4 adapter that you can hook everything up to. ill let you know when i get it.

Those are the ones on ebay right? Ive held off because ive heard stories of them melting the housings. Maybe its just the cheap bulbs supplyed with them im not sure. I cant wait to see all 4 done with the city lights because they are a nice cheap upgrade for our lights. I currently have silverstars and i want brighter and more crisp. I will most likely go true HIDs though when i get the cash.

Those look almost like mine except for the piece that covers the bulb. The APC harness is definately required for these. It was really easy to install these with the front end already completely taken apart, I know I would have scratched up my headlight buckets too if it would have been put together when I did it. While you're at it, pick up a set of HIDs from ledgauges.com (you can talk to him on ls1tech.com if you want, his userid is LS1_SS). You'll be glad you did.

I like those turn signals. I bought brand new GM ones when I got the new grill bumper, and ground effect. The headlights do change the look of the car, here's mine:

Do they make this style light without that "city light" thing? I like the look of the crystal headlights, but I have no interest in that blue light business. I just want a normal white headlight, but in that new crystal style.

They don't that I know of but I wish they did, I took the city light out and put duct tape over the hole so you don't really notice it unless you're looking for it. I wanted to use the city lights and put a red bulb in them but after I cut the metal part that holds the light the city light hits the headlight bar and I didn't want to cut that so I just took them out.

what bulbs are you using those look good.
i thought about taking the city lights out but i did not, it would have been alot easier considering they are really close on the headlight bar in the back. im sure you could get some kind of a plug for it.

I couldn't agree more. I LOVE the headlights and the turn signals, but I just want a plain clear lense/light, no blue tint. <- that's ***** IMO

maybe there's hope yet. I found these on ebay:

Then I could just toss the stupid blue bulbs.

My headlights? Those are 8000K HIDs I got from ledgauges.com. The HIDs look cooler, shine brighter and further, and use half the power of the crappy H4 bulbs that came with the housings. They have an almost perfect beam and don't blind people. I only got the low beams though. Money well spent in my opinion.

i got the lights from ebay but i cant remember the seller ill look when i get home. i really like the look of the blue bulbs. i would have rather not got the city lights but they dont bother me. the look from str8 on the front and seeing all blue bulbs looks awesome to me! which is why i went with the blue sylverstar parking lights.
