Re: headlight covers

I think GTS used to make the covers you're thinking about.

I used to run some GTS covers that just snapped over the glass on my '87 Legend. I ran these from when the car was new up until a few years ago. They finally got so dinged up, sand blasted and brittle that I had to pitch them. I now use that clear, thick 3M protective film on them.

The only other ones that I recall are some off-brand plastic covers that mount in between the sealed beam housing and the retaining ring. But this was a l-o-n-g time ago. I had these covering my Cibie lamps on my '74 Camaro.

The only covers I see now are those steel mesh ones the 4x4 crowd uses.

Edit: I'm referring to clear covers that are more for protection than looks.

Re: headlight covers

Try ordering a set for a 91 full size chevy truck. I had a friend that used the ones off his dads truck back in the day. They clip onto the lamps. Plus when you order a set, it has 4 so you have extras if you loose one.

Looks like they changed them in 91. You need the covers that fit the 1988 truck. It has double headlights up top. Both Hi and Lo beams. The cover only fits over the headlights and not the marker lights. So the headlight bucket will not be covered, just the lights.

Re: headlight covers

Whatcha can do is what I done on my 79 T/A back in the day.......Take and cut 1/8" Plexiglas and cut to fit the lights and paint the backs flat black and attach velcro tabs in each corner of the lights.....It looks good......but you have to remove them for night driving.
THAT was a veeerrry looooong time ago!

Re: headlight covers

I was just about to post a thread about some headlight covers I found in my parts bin. I received them with the car back in the day, but never used them. Im interested now. Anyone know anything about these ?

The clear ones look as though they would fit with some velcro'd side mounts, but the black ones I cannot figure out. They look as though they were intended for the IROC, but they are too big. Those are by AVS, cant find any info on the part numbers though.
