Re: January 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**
If I could track down Mean Z28's profile, this is the message that I would send him.
I spent what seemed like an hour and no results, so if anyone can find Mean Z28's profile, please pass it along.
Congratulations!
Your car has been nominated for TGO's January, 2019 Car of the month (COTM).
The **Voting Thread** is up and running in the Auto Detailing and Appearance forum. The Voting Thread is the place to state your case to be the COTM Winner by posting several good pics of your car (exterior, interior, engine, etc.) as well as technical & historical data about your Third Gen. You will be competing against five (5) other TGO members this month. The sooner the better on posting pics and info, thus making your case in the Voting Thread, as typically, much of the voting is done within the first few days. The voting poll will close on 12/31.
As a TGO Member, you get to vote in the contest and you CAN vote for your own car.
Good luck to you in the voting, and congratulations on being nominated.

Jbucanan, I LOVE what you did there by posting a link to fbodycarguy's profile. That helped me out a lot. I strongly encourage everyone to do this when you know your nominee is a new member or otherwise doesn't have much of a footprint on these boards.

Dave, not sure if the link above is what you are looking for. I am a little computer ignorant and don't know if I did it right. From a fellow Maiden fan, "don't hate me bro" but you are just spelling it wrong. It is MEEN not MEAN. Since I nominated him and I really want to see more of his ride, let me know if you need me to find out more for you.

Re: January 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**
Thanks for the nomination. The car is a 1987 IROC-Z with the 350, TTops, Bose stereo, Leather interior and just about every other option. In 1987, the cost was over $21k. As of today, it only has a little over 21k miles.
Lots of reflection:
Here's a pic of the factory paint on the hood. The '87s were the first year for the paint delamination issues, so this factory paint is in great shape:
During the 2011 Hot Rod Power Tour. This was a fun run, but the AC broke the day after we left. It was HOT!!!

I think I’ve still got the issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines that your car was featured in! Not that it’s that old anyway haha

Re: January 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**
I am truly honored to be nominated along with such other beautiful cars. I know I have no chance of winning but am grateful to even been mentioned. I don't have a lot of decent pics but I'll post the few I do have (especially since she looks very different from the one pic posted now).
As far as a story goes, there's not much to it. I've always loved third gens. My first car when I was 18 was an 88' RS hardtop with a sad little 2.8 v6. I Always wanted a 92 Z28 and after my wife wrecked her Ford Taurus I gave her my Magnum and went looking for my dream third gen with the insurance money. That was roughly 8 years ago. I bought Jessica from a guy out in Lancaster, Ca who bought it as a project car. She was a basket case and he realized he was in over his head. Got her for a steal but she needed a lot of work. Shocks were toast, all the suspension was bad, alignment was so off the steering wheel was 90 degrees off from where it was... the nose was munched, 1 top missing, no stereo, etc etc etc.
long story short she's been my toy/daily driver ever since. I've always been the type that likes to stand apart from the crowd and anything stock is bad. I take a lot of pride in making mods that are one of a kind. Full Ridetech air-ride suspension, targa-top conversion, hand built spliter/rear diffuser etc. Lots of blood sweat and tears went into what she is now and I'm no where near done.
Oh and yes, it's MeenZ28 not MeanZ28. It was a screen name I picked a very long time ago when I was on a message board called ProjectCamaro.com. I'm a horrible speller and just ran with it ever since. Lol

You have just as much a chance to win as any other car on this board. The fact that you were nominated, and second, puts in the best position to win, because you only have a few cars to compete against. Good luck

This actually gives me a reason to clean her up and take new pics. I'll post up in a few days (after Christmas of course). It'll be good thing too since I got a decent Xmas bonus from work I'm finally getting the body straight and changing her to white by the summer. These will likely be the last pics of her in red.

Beautiful car. Keeping the paint looking like that is unbelievable! Have you ever considered removing the mud flaps?

The way I enjoy the car when I do drive it, I want to protect the rear quarters from stone chips, so the mud flaps stay!

Re: January 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**
They do pick up nasty chips in the back.. When I first got my Vert the back, lower rear quarter had some substantial chips, but virtually nothing in the front.
I already have one, tiny chip on my passenger side lower rear quarter since the new paint and I’ve never done a burnout. The tires do stick out more by that lower rear quarter. I’ve considered mud flaps and with original paint I could see the reasoning.
I had IROC Z mudflaps that I bought from a GM dealer parts department on my 87.. never bothered me. I guess I did have a few people say I should take them off.. They did work because I smoked through a lot of tires with that car and didn’t pick up chips..

Re: January 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**
Hey Everyone,
My apologies for not being able to post more info on my car yet. This is a tough time of the year to find some free time with Christmas, sick kids, and end of the year work activities. Sorry!
I am honored to be nominated with this car, thank you very much Adam. This car is a special one to me. It's a 92 Z28 1LE. It was special ordered to be a special car by its original owner. This car was ordered by a woman in CA to be her daily driver with the help of her son. The son chose what he considered to be the hottest setup at the time (and I do too!)... Teal, 1LE, stick shift, CD player, black custom cloth, etc. When the car arrived, the mother realized that the car did not have AC and came with crank windows and she realized that this wasn't an every day car. So, she bought a Taurus and parked the car to be used for car shows and occasional fun use. True story. I bought it from the original owner a year ago.
The car has 8k miles on it. It still wears gatorbacks, OEM floor mats, GM muffler, etc etc. I have all of the paperwork on it and it's in fantastic shape.
I have been working out the bugs from sitting like I have my others, and every time I see it, it puts a smile on my face. This car was literally the dream car of myself and my friends growing up.... A teal hardtop performance oriented big wing Z28 was the stuff of dreams and i'm very fortunate to own it. Below are some pics.
Again, please forgive me for my tardiness

Thanks guys!! That means a lot, I appreciate it! I have more detailing to do this year but it's coming along nicely! I was able to take it out to a local cars and coffee event over the summer and I had a blast with it. The attention that it got was wild and it was fun to talk about it to other enthusiasts. My wife took my other 92 1LE (which was fun because she had never driven any of my thirdgens before) and my Dad took his 69 Camaro. Can't wait to do more of that this upcoming season
