If anyone is able to reach out to Mr. Chevy, I cannot find his profile here on TGO. I was not able to PM him that his car has been nominated and the voting process has begun.

Re: September 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**

First, I'd like to say thank you to those that nominated me. I enjoy watching the COTM threads, from the stock original cars to the highly modified, it's good to see these cars being cared for and preserved. I've owned a few of these cars over the years, and still own the GTA that is my namesake. I had been casually looking for several years for a clean Camaro that I could turn into a very nice street car. I ran across this 89 IROC almost by accident, and it met my criteria (pretty straightforward, I wanted t-tops, AC, manual transmission and good exterior). I purchased the car last September with a stock 305/ t-5 combo, and already having tons of ideas floating around in my head from years of being around these cars, I immediately set to work. I repaired the interior and exterior flaws the car had, and then planned the build in a manner that it would not become a long term garage ornament. I built the engine, rear, brakes and did the transmission swap, as well as a few other upgrades over the course of a few months. My end goal was a car that could be comfortably driven anywhere, retain AC, deliver decent fuel mileage, low maintenance, and perform well in autocross, light track and drag racing use. All work was performed by myself. As many of you know, there are innumerable drivetrain routes that can be had with these cars, I pretty much did what I wanted, for better or for worse.

Engine: 383, using a 4 bolt vortec block, AFR 195 heads, 10.9:compression, Eagle forged crank, forged 6" rods, forged Mahle pistons, Comp XFI292 cam, Comp gold 1.6 rocker arms, AFR rocker stud girdle, LS7 lifters, TPIS miniram intake, Canton road race oil pan, Melling HV oil pump, Dyno Don's headers, Spintech 4" exhaust, Derale dual cooling fans.

Engine management and fuel system: EFI Connection 24x system, using Fitech ultimate LS ecu, LS1 coils, MSD custom built LT1 wires, 36lb holley injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump.

Transmission: T56 magnum, wide ratio- 2.97 1st, .50 6th, American Powertrain shifter with modified pro 5.0 shifter handle from a t5, Ram billet flywheel, Ram power grip HD clutch, stock hydraulics, modified Spohn crossmember.

Rear differential: 9" Burkhardt chassis 4130 chromoly housing, street setup has a Strange nodular center section that currently has 3.25 gears, 31 spline Strange axles, Eaton Truetrac differential. Drag setup uses a Yukon aluminum center, strange 40 spline spool, Mark Williams gun drilled 40 spline axles, 4.10 gears, PTC chromoly 3" driveshaft, sonnax billet yoke.

Brakes/wheels: Wilwood forged Dynalite 4 piston calipers, 12" rotors front and rear, modified Lokar parking brake cable, stock master cylinder, Wilwood proportioning valve, 18x8 IROC replicas, Michelin Pilot Sport 4s 245/40zr18

Suspension: 'ebay' lowering springs, Spohn torque arm and rear LCA's, Burkhardt panhard bar, UMI panhard drop brace, competition engineering SFC's, UMI strut tower brace, Detroit Speed front sway bar, Burkhardt rear ARB.

As for the interior and exterior, the only thing I have done since purchasing the car is installed Dakota Digital VHX gauges, replaced the dash pad and removed the tail light tint. It had 'ebay' racing seats, Hawks rear harness bar, Corbeau belts, 5" spoiler and Tracspec hood louvers, when I bought it. And for the most asked question I get, the 'ground effects' is simply garage door weatherstripping.

The car is an absolute joy to drive, I have about 5000 miles on it now, zero issues and always draws a lot of attention. My build thread for anyone interested https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...ml#post6283367

Re: September 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**

Here is my car, 91 Z/28, Holley Stealth Ram, 6 speed, and a host of other mods, currently getting a LS swap. First time being nominated, thank you, only took 20 years or so. lol. I have had this car since about 1998, bought when i was still active duty Air Force. retired in 2006. It was fully stock TPI 350 with a auto and cloth interior, and finally getting a LS3 swap as we speak.

Thanks

Wow thanks and the swap is going ok, got a little crazy with parts, decided to update the whole car, from motor to converting the T56 to LS, to complete Ground Control suspension set up with Koni shocks/struts and weight jacks, and doing some repair as well. I'll do a full build thread when it' done. And the tubular K-Member I had would not work with the LS, so that got replaced and had to upgrade to tubular front LCA's.

Mike

Re: September 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**

I'd like to thank Abubaca for the nomination for car of the month! I have just recently gotten into the social media world exclusively for my car and having recognition like this means a lot! I got my car in 2012 and it has been an on going project ever since. It is a 1983 Camaro Berlinetta that originally had the 305 with 700r4 combo, and had every option that was available in 1983 including a rear windshield wiper and t tops. Since 2012 I have made huge changes to my car it was originally Light Brown Metallic with dark brown accents with wire basket wheels. Now it is Inferno Orange Metallic with matte black accents and my personally refinished IROC wheels. The second major thing that I did to my car was the 350 TPI swap. I completely rebuilt an engine out of a 1985 Corvette over the course of about a year, then took a months time to complete the install... Sadly after about 6 months it blew up on me about 4 hours from home. That was an extremely long tow truck ride home. But I did not let it get me down, I went on the hunt for a later TPI with a roller cam, and I stumbled across an engine out of a 1987 Corvette with factory aluminum 113 heads that would serve as my replacement. After about 4 months of waiting I finally got the engine installed and the car going driving down the road again! The third thing that I did was replace the old 3.08 open drum rear end with a borg warner 9 bolt with disc brakes and posi! That was a huge improvement over the open diff and that I could burn up both tires equally rather having the one tire fire. Last but not least the transmission swap, I got a WCT5 out of a friends car and took a weekend to give my car a huge upgrade in the driving experience. My car is a project that never ends, I'm sure I will find something new to do with it soon enough...

Re: September 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**

Yes, that is the real miles. It had 164k on it when I got it. When I got it, I drove it all the time. Since I got it repainted, it doesn't get driven near as much, but I do try to take it to most of the shows and it does see some occasional track time. The old 305 is getting tired but still runs great. Since it runs so good, I keep putting off doing a rebuild on it. Has excellent oil pressure too. It is a real good driving car too for the miles. Most other components of the car have been rebuilt. I love driving it. Still has the original dash pad! Thanks for the compliments.

Amazing job on that Berlinetta!

And 204K on that Z-28? That's incredible! When I first saw the pics, I thought it was a long-lost garage find that had barely been driven.
