I admit, I'm out of control, picked up another 87 Trans Am today - 35k miles and original owner until early 2022
Even got the original window sticker and invoice - looking forward to Cars & Coffee next month.....

Very nice. The hot new color for 1987, though not actually new for 87, but that's when most people discovered dark red metallic. Definitely black is better in it than tan!
The TRANS AM sticker on the front seems oddly located. That's where the stripe would normally be. If it's a stripe delete car, then maybe that's where they located the front and rear stickers?
Those BFG tires are the first real ones I've seen on a car. Images of them online are usually just generic images. They WERE one of the few 245/50-16 tires available, but I think that size has now been discontinued in that tire. They have a nice look to them. Should be good in your daily 5-minute torrential downpours. How do they feel on the road?
Speaking of rain, me thinks the FL Brotherhood better find higher ground and safe havens for yourselves and your nice 3rdgens. Nicole appears to be on her way to greet both of you. Looks like she'll come ashore near the Stuart area, then cut across near the Plant City area before she heads north. Stay safe, y'all.
Edit: Well, now that I look at web images, I see don't see any 1987 TAs with stripes. But they do show the stickers in both, high and low locations. Maybe it was a Van Nuys vs. Norwood thing.

Just curious, what stripe are you refering to ??
The bird decal on the nose is in the same location as the GTA emblem would be if it were a GTA - this car has original paint and decals (or so I'm told)
The tires were purchased in 2019 - I think they are not currently available
Yes, we are ready for the storm (as always) it's a large storm in size but luckily not all that powerful - I'm ready and have a fully automatic back up power system in my CAT 5 built home and
I'm inland so no storm surge issues here - it will be a lot of wind and rain but will pas quickly - THANKS !!
Similar to IROCs having a solid color stripe combo around the car above the GFX, 85 and 86 Trans Ams came with a dot-matrix color-fade stripe above the GFX. I would've thought 87 too, but apparently not in 87 and beyond, as no images I find online show the stripe. But that's a good thing because they look better without the stripe anyway.

I agree, never seen that stripe on an 87 T/A - maybe we can get JT or Okfoz to chime in, I bet one of them would know?
Very nice Trans Am! I don't see the flame red with silver aero Trans Ams as much as the ones in bright red/silver or blue/silver versions.
I believe that perimeter stripe was D88. There are no records showing that option on the 1987+ Trans Ams. 1986 and 1987 is when things started going away - stripe kit, hood bird, overhead console, etc.

Once again nice find Biz! You do have a knack for finding nice 3rd gens, that's for sure! You gonna bring this one to Cars and Coffee Dec 4th? It's the toy drive show. I think I am going to this one, I have not been in awhile. Hope to meet up with you'll.
Awesome......from a paint/year point of view, THAT car is my favorite thirdgen TA!!!!!! Wow! .....very nice. There was one for sale locally about a year ago with a 5 speed/TPI. I thought long and hard about selling my daughter for quick cash, but at the end of the day, wife said no. Oh well....maybe one day I'll find one!
Those tires appear to be the "all season" version, and I believe they're still available, or at least, places still have them in stock. The regular summer tire is no more.

Thanks Vin - Yes, I plan on taking it to C&C PB on Dec 4th - hope to see you there

Thanks !! The tires currently on it look like they belong on an off road SUV
I plan on running Hawks 17" repo GTA wheels but I dont see any black ones available on their web site - I hope they did not discontinue the black ones - Need to start
seeing what the best 275/40/17 tire will be and hope the Continental Extreme Contacts are still available - so many 16 & 17 inch tires being discontinued its disappointing to see

Had them on my 17" IROCs on the red 89. GREAT tire! ....They were available in that size a few months ago, but did NOT purchase due to a possible 18" wheel option. Still haven't decided, but my guess is that size is still available.

Good to know - Thanks - I'm kicking around the idea of the 18" Hawks R15 repos but the more I look at those 18" wheels on third gens I just
dont like that look - IMO, those look way better as 17" as most wheels do on 3rd gens - I guess I'm too old school

Make no mistake, If I could get a 275/16, I surely would. ...and heck if I could even order the summer version of that BFG, it'd be a hard decision. I don't mind 17", and frankly the GTA style wheel, and the WELD wheels I have don't look too bad in 18" because the double lip they have. Really makes the wheel look smaller than it is. Don't get me wrong, there's performance and brake clearance to be had with a big wheel, but for looks, I just prefer a smaller wheel.

Completely agree with this - I know it was done for bigger brake clearances, but I just think it looks horrible over 17".
That is one of the most beautiful trans am's I've seen recently, congratulations!
I've ran 2 sets of these tires, and they're AWESOME. Not only do they look great, but the ride and perform awesome, too. I highly recommend them! I had them in a 275/40/17 as well as a set in 245/50/16

Thanks for the info - That is another one I was considering as well - It's between these and the Continentials
