sticking accelerator

I was just wondering if anyone on here has ever had a problem with your accelerator sticking. I have an 86 Camaro that I have been restoring for a year and just finished it. My accelerator stuck in a parking lot and I sped right into a cement light pole. My car is now scrap. I am beyond upset and still in shock. Anyway, I am just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this happening before. Thanks a lot.

cable

My 86 TA just had this problem. If I punched the accelerator, it would stick. If I would punch it again real quick it came back up. I replaced the throttle cable since, and now it's fine.
This info is a bit too late.
Sorry to hear about that. All that hard work, and then that had to happen?
Ummm, at the risk of being slapped, did your steering wheel stick too? <duck>

Sorry to hear about the pole man coz I hit a steel pole with mine
coz the dick who converted my steering to R/h drive left the clip off the brake!. Make sure you check all your conections etc at the motor as well as the cable.

that car appears to have been in nice shape before the collision

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1854952557

"This is an 86 Camaro Z28 clone. I made it look like a Z28 but it's not a Z by the vin number. Anyway, I spent a year restoring the car and I finally finished it. The accelerator stuck as I was trying to park and I was speeding up in a parking lot and tried to stop but hit a light pole. The engine is not hit. The fans are shot along with the front bumper, hood, headlight panel, lights, front ground effects, front clip and radiator support but the engine will run. It's a 350. The wheels are American Racing (passenger front is a little scraped from going up the curb) and Cooper tires. There is a Kenwood CD player (KDC-716S) along with an MTX 4250D 350 watt amp and an MTX Thunder8000 10" sub in a Q-Logic box. All monster cables hook up the sound system. The car could be fixed but I can't afford it. The interior is spotless as is the rest of the car from the windshield back. "

yeah that's mine

Yeah, that was my car that you saw on Ebay. I went to a body shop and they said about $4000-$5000 to fix it. My dad and I may be able to do everything except welding the radiator support back together, which I could have someone do. We may end up fixing up everything for under $1500. If I can do that, then I'll do it. I miss my car already because I couldn't enjoy it for more than a few days. But yeah, that is mine. Should I decide to fix it, I will definitely look at the accelerator cable and lube everything up and make sure this won't happen again. Thanks guys!

Fix it bro! That car is SWEET. I really want to see it in good working condition.... thats why I asked before. I would hate to see you sell it if you could fix it. It would just be heartbreaking. I can't imagine how it would feel if my car was totaled or even wrecked after all the time and money I spent on it. Blood, Sweat and tears man. If I was able I'd help ya fix that car, and like I said, I'd hate to see it go, cause shes BEAUTIFUL looking (Minus the damage of course), and it looks like you've put alot of hard work into it.

thanks

Thanks a lot guys for the kind words. The more I think about it, the more I want to hear those Flowmasters roar again! It sounded better than most cars I hear on the road now. I think I will be fixing it. Again, thanks for all of the advice and let me know if you think of anything else I should do or look at. I will let you know when it's done and i'll have to post some pics.
