deer took out my cluster lights

tonight a deer ran into the front left corner of my car. hit the fender right in front of the wheel. well after i stopped checked the deer i was checking the car and i hear my radar go off. turns out a cop was pulling up so we did a report on it and i go to leave and find out the lights in my cluster are not working after the incident.my parking lamp on the left side is smashed, my gfx are cracked, the paint on the bumper is cracked and flaked. my fender is smashed in pretty bad in front of the wheel. i'm curious why the dash lights would go out though. i'll have pics up tomarrow.

From the title of the post.. I though to myself.. that's one talented deer to take your dash lights

As far as relevant banter from me.. start with checking the gages fuse.

just be glad that it was only the fender and gfx that got smashed and not your hood, or windsheild, or you, or the door

i would check fuses if the parking lights were smashed it might have shorted something out and that could be causing the problem

go to a really expensive place, then go get it done somewhere else so you have extra $$

You and I have similar imaginations. I found the mental image of a thieving deer harvesting Camaro parts strangely amusing.

Anyway, I feel your pain topless89rs. I hit a raccoon awhile back and the poor rascal seriously damaged my front ground effect.

Amazingly, the little guy scampered off quite sprightly afterwards, so apparently he wasn't much the worse for wear.

carstar is doing the estimate and then i'm gonna get the parts from a local jy or something and save major bank on it. how much do you think the estimate for the fender, bumper, gfx, and parking lamp plus labor and paint will be? i'm gonna get the car painted in the summer no use in getting like 2 parts painted now. lol

yeah you need to change the title of the post to "deer took my cluster lights and my stereo!" just to catch people's attention

glad you had insurance to cover it...i hit a deer in my old car, but i dont have enough cash to get full insurance on my iroc. i just have liability..........scared the **** out of me last night, 2 hour trip home after a gavin degraw concert on back country roads, and i must have seen a total of 40 deer on the side of the road..i was sure 1 or 2 or 18 of them were gonna jump in front of me....

anyway, glad you got your butt covered, doesn't look like too major of a job

You got lucky!! Hit a Deer in my 92 25th Anniversary at about 80mph dead center of the car. Thankfully my airbag didnt go off but it ripped the whole front of the car off pretty much and pushed my hood about 1/4 of the way back(rad was pushed against the engine almost).

Mothernature can be a totally B!tch sometimes

your lights arent working because in smashing the parking lamp bulb, you probably blew a fuse. The fuse controlls BOTH the parking lights and the guage lights. I had that problem on my 84 TA.
