removing the stock shift knob?

removing the stock shift ****?

i want to replace my shifter plate on an automatic but i cant get the stick shift **** off, how do i do it? thanx

On the front side of the shift ****, there is a retaining clip. Pull it out with pliers and it'll come off.

To elaborate what he said,the clip is on te side facing the radio.You may need a flat head screw driver(w/a thin tip) to pry it out cause it is usually really in there.Then just pull the **** off.
