Would it be possible...

Is it possible to replace a camaro speedo with a firebird one? I have an 89 Camaro speedo that is mechanical and it doesn't work because I have a
4L60e tranny. I am looking for a cheap alternative to get a speedo.

I have an LT1 with 4l60e tranny. It's from 95. The tranny puts out a vss signal for the computer, basically I need a speedo that runs from vss.

why not replace the speedo with an electric one from a 91-92 camaro?

A firebird speedo would work but you're going to have to rewire everything and then have to get a firebird dash. I think a 91-92 camaro speedometer would be easier.

to put in a 91-92 camaro guage you will have to change all the guage sorunds and stuff as well. it would still be WAY easyer then converting to a firebird dash. also i am farley certain that the dash mounts in a camaro and firebird are different to the point that they will not match up without modifications to the mounts that are wealded to the car. the firebird speedo will NOT drop in to a mechanical camaro cluster without running all your own wires for it. you will need skills. massive skills. the best cheapest option would be to put a 91-92 camaro guage cluster in there.

also, V6sucker, we are all aware he has a camaro, he said it right in his first post. THAT is why firbat said to use the 91-92 camaro one. as it would be less complicated.
