buckets all around

has anyone put full size buckets in the back of their thirdgen?
like taking a pair of aftermarket racing seats, modifying the rear floor pan and having matching seats all around?
if you have can i see some pics?

not that I know of. How tall are they going to be, because wont you have a problem seeing over them when looking out rear window?

yeah i was thinking about that but if you lower the floor pan( not sure about exhaust clearance if you're running a custom dual setup)and then put the seats in without the slider tracks it might be low enough and you would still have a gap the size of the transmission hump between the two seats to see through

i don't know if you've looked at the floor pan in the rears of these cars, but I'm thinking it's next to impossible due to the driveshaft, torque arm, and exhaust routing. You could get split back seats and have them reupholstered to match your racing seats.

i've stripped the interior of my car andi see how it all is but my floors are rusting out and i was just playing with the idea of cutting it out lowering the floor a little and puting buckets in the back too. it's not the idea of having matching upholstery all around but more matching seats. it's just something that i haven't seen done and am curious about. i'm gonna look at it some more tomorrow and take some measurements to see if anything like that will work. probably not but i'll see. it would be cool to have buckets in the back too though

i dont know how it is in new york but if you come down to Pa your more than likely going to rub a lowered floor almost everywhere.....i cant even go over speed bumbs without super caution and my car is stock height

i was thinking about using the backs of some Cutlass Supreme (early 90s) seats. they had bucket type rear seats and just mounting the top halves and use the orginal seat bottoms.

that would be a really cool idea. I think the Mazda RX-8 has buckets in the back

the rear floor is higher than the front so if i lowered it it wouldn.t be any lower than the main structure of the frame of the car, but after cutting out some of the rusted out parts of my floor today it looks like it probably won't be possible to lower the floors enough for the backs of the seats to even clear the roof. this won't stop me from looking into it more though. my floors are rusted through to the point where i have to pull the whole pan on both sides and replace them. so when i do that i'll take some measurements and see if anything like this is possible.
